Every 2nd Amendment supporting organization needs numbers and financial support. Every little bit helps. We're all in this together.
I’ll be the 1st to jump ship. Only reason I remain a member now is because of the head count they represent to politicians. I stopped making extra donations after they teamed up with Schumer and McCarthy to push the “Veterans Disarmament Act” that Gun Owners of America’s Larry Platt aptly named in late 2007. I joined and donate to his organization after that.
They are the most visible group out there so they're going to be under the most pressure and, at the same time, they're probably going to have the most input in whatever finally becomes of this. We should be trying to take some of that focus off of them imo...
Haven’t read the other comments yet and there are five, but let me just say, this is the opportunity for the NRA to right a thousand of their wrongs.
Do they have the guts to stick up for the second amendment and individual rights? It hasn’t happened yet in their long history of attempts, and that is the very reason I don’t have much respect for them, their candidate/elected official rating system, their leadership, or their principles, when the chips are down and everything is on the line, as it will be now, I expect them to fold like the proverbial cheap suit.
The NRA literally has been on the side of government through the passage of every single onerous, gun bill against the rights of the American people, and the “shall not be infringed” portion of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.
So prove me wrong NRA I dare ya. No I double dog dare you. Show some cajones. Please. You have to ask yourself, just why over four million people have any regard for this plastic banana. “The People” would be far better served by NAGR. An organization actively involved in getting rid of politicians who vote against the second amendment.

Larry Pratt was right and so is the post from “wita” directly under yours on this same thread.

I disagree with everyone here who says the NRA should not say anything. As a crisis communication professional I’ll tell you why.
Forgetting for a moment that the NRA is only one of a number of gun advocacy organizations, it is vitally important that they stake out what is left of the high ground. To borrow from an old saying, information abhors a vacuum. In the absence of reasonable and factual information, Obama’s and the libtard lies are filling the void. We already see liberal @sswipes waving public opinion polls around that they say justify wholesale change in “gun laws”. That’s NOT because of the mass murder, that’s because the only people talking about it in public is the lying left. Remember, these are the same idiots who re-elected our POS prez. The NRA and every other org out there that claims to stand for the 2nd Amendment better get their butts in front of the media yesterday.
This is the line and they are crossing it. This is the battle of the bulge and we are losing it. Wait for tox reports?! Don’t say anything?! BS! We better hit them with everything we’ve got or I guarantee you that Obama will soon be banning and grabbing every gun he possibly can.
Do not doubt me.
Even when they share the same positions with those women. It truly is amazing.
Agree completely. The time is now to talk.
Honest to God, talk about a “normalcy bias”. FR is chock full of dedicated, right minded, intelligent people who simply do not understand that this is a battle for everything that is America. And by “this” I don’t mean this firearms issue, I mean the Obama presidency.
We’re still bringing knifes to gun fights.
Which way do we march?
Yeah... Didn't think so.
Ease off the "gun fight" rhetoric until you actually mean it. The NRA is playing this right. If they come across mealy mouthed on Friday, then we can raise the black flag and start slitting throats.
Wayne LaPierre with good buddy Harry Reid.
Here's why I quit the NRA just before the 2010 elections....
They endorsed EVERY SINGLE ANTI_CONSTITUTION liberal democrat incumbent in NM.
No more.
NO TO THE LIB NRA!!!
They had better hold the line on this AWB business or they will lose half their members.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Thats right. They have to be very careful not to diminish support of 2nd amendment rights at all in the face of tragedy.
2nd amendment rights are designed to meet any tragedy. Thats why they are there.
I have the duty to defend my own children. No fascist or socialist movement will ever take that right away, and the NRA needs to stand firm if it means to survive the cultural wars where politically correct people rush to morph into defenceless sheep.
Politicians have to be very circumspect about this issue. It could start a civil war.
Promise statement December 21?

Indeed...
This is the line in the sand.
The flag is about to go up...
God help us all.
If I hear ONE SYLLABLE indicating a rollover on ARs/AKs they can kiss that contribution and all future ones GOODBYE.
Given that I neither mentioned nor inferred ANYTHING about a gun fight or rebellion, I can only assume that you are a complete idiot.
Suggest you look up the word “metaphor”.
“Which way do we march?” LOL!
Exactly! The NRA has been infiltrated by the Progs!
