The Letter Blew Away
vanity ^ | 16 Jan 2013 | palmer

Posted on 01/16/2013 6:51:48 PM PST by palmer

"I was going to write my Congressman but there was a sudden gust of wind and the letter blew away." Make sense? How about: this: "I lost my firearms in a (insert overused unfunny cliche) accident so I no longer exercise my Second Amendment rights." In other words, I'll just pretend to not be armed until some ill-defined time in the future, and then I'll get out my firearms, and do some practice since I won't have had any for years and then... ?? Maybe at that point I'll find my pen and some more paper and ???

“Admitting you own firearms on a public forum such as this just puts you on a fedgov list.”

Oh, I’m on a list all right. NFA. Three times, and two more soon if I can manage. I’ve let them know that not only do I have guns, I’ve got some pretty serious ones, and they have absolutely no justification to take them (as I’ve passed every conceivable background check).

I’m on another list too. C&R. I’m so trustworthy I can have battle rifles shipped to my door with zero government monitoring, and they know it.

Yeah I have guns.
Yeah I’m on fedgov lists.
Yeah they know there is no justification to disarm me.

I called my senator but her last name is Feinstein, so it is the same as throwing up a letter into the wind

Her staffers might read your letter and a few drips of common sense might seep into their heads.

They probably have daily brain bleaching sessions so they don't get infected with thoughts of liberty.

I wouldn’t read so much into it if there wasn’t so much of it to read.

You’re too full of yourself. You have your ideas and your opinions like all of us — cool — but what you actually KNOW about anyone here and their true motives asymtotically approaches zero.

You seem to think there are just two possible outcomes to tyranny:
a) Turn in your guns the first time you’re asked, or
b) Open the door with guns a-blazin’, get yourself and probably your loved ones killed immediately, but I GOT TWO OF THE BASTARDS BEFORE THEY GOT ME!!!

You couldn’t be more wrong. And I don’t give a damn how many C&R permits you hold — you’re STILL wrong. Should it actually come down to it, there are much more *effective* means of resistance than meeting them headon at the front door with your tricked out Black Rifle.

FRegards

Oh, one more thing. In all of your FR bluster about guns and how badass you are and how badass we should all be, I’m reminded of that old adage: “Those that know don’t talk... those that talk don’t know.”

Touche.

On the other hand I actually DO know more about you and your motives, because you’re working so tirelessly to shove them down my and everyone else’s throat.

Ever been in the military?

Just curious.

Shoving them? No, just exercising my 1st Amendment right in a way this forum was intended to facilitate. You can ignore me if you want. You can stop reading this thread if you want. Don’t criticize me for participating the same way you are.
You replied to me first, remember.

“You replied to me first, remember.”

Oops, strike that.

But do note that this thread was, as has been noted, inspired by my comments elsewhere. You asked what the point was, and I explained it.

>> You replied to me first, remember.

Unless palmer is your sockpuppet, that’s bullshit. I replied to palmer’s OP. Then you waded in on me.
“You could look it up”. It’s your post #15 to my #2.

>> No, just exercising my 1st Amendment right in a way this forum was intended to facilitate. You can ignore me if you want. You can stop reading this thread if you want. Don’t criticize me for participating the same way you are.

That’s rich! I’m grateful for the options you’re giving me, Sir. I can ignore you. ~or~ I can go away. ~but~ I can’t criticize you...

First amendment rights for thee, but none for me. I think you’re a bit closer to the tyrants you rail against than you’d like to admit.

What’s more, it’s been suggested by others and acknowledged by you that you often rant (not my word, palmer’s) about this silly guns-in-the-lake issue. In other words, you’re working tirelessly to shove that viewpoint down the forum’s throat. I call ‘em like I see ‘em and I see this one quite clearly, thank you very much.

Cool, we’ll leave some mystery around the question. Anyway I’ve made my guess from your comments and demeanor, which will suffice for me.

Your #15 made it personal in a shotgun-from-the-hip sort of way.

Any number of us use the “tragic canoe accident” joke but that is what it is - a joke.

If you haven’t seen the APCs that Homeland Security are spreading around our country you might want to look around.

If they come for our guns you will be overpowered.

The best suggestion I’ve heard was Glenn Beck’s view that if they come for your guns just say “No - please arrest me” - simply because you, individually, cannot resist but in the numbers that would have to be arrested, processed, detained, removed from their community positions would make the action untenable and arouse the population to fight the abuse.

If you start shooting at the LEOS in your driveway - you are going to lose so non-violent resistance is a better choice.

Trigger Point, quite an interesting term.

There is also Tipping Point.

Can you say "prescient"? (Not like it was hard to see it coming.)

Thanks for the link.

The thread is about alleged boating accidents, not shooting LEOs in your driveway.

Surprising accuracy, eh? Hit a little too too close to home? Taking a sweeping generalization rather personally for a reason?

>> Hit a little too too close to home?

Spell out exactly what you mean by that. To my face. Not in generalities. Personally.

Spell out EXACTLY what you’re accusing me of being, or doing.

Don’t dance around behind your chickenshit generalities, boss. Make it clear. Make it to me, and put your name on it.
