The Atlanta boy who was shot in the back of the head by a fellow middle schooler Thursday afternoon was “conscious and talking” later in the day, authorities said.

The victim, a Price Middle School student whose name had not been released, got out of the hospital Thursday night, the Associated Press reported.

Earlier, Atlanta Public Schools Supt. Erroll Davis said at a televised press conference that the boy's family had expected his release.

After the shooter opened fire in a campus courtyard, the school’s armed officer jumped in, Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said...

“That particular officer was able to subdue the individual and have him … drop his weapon,” Turner said. “And he was able to take him into custody at the time of the incident.”

Well imagine that.

I surprised the LA Times even mentioned a school’s armed officer. If he had not been armed to protect the students, it might have been another Sandyhook shooting.

The taxpayers would have save a lot of expense if the armed officer had put the perp down permanently instead of taking him prisoner.

AAAANNNNDDDDD.....thus proving in one fell swoop that the NRA’s position is correct. Armed officers and school staff CCW are the right way to go on this issue.

And being a responsible, situational-aware, law-abiding individual, he didn't even have to spray bullets all over - just the presence of his gun was able to stop the bad guy. How can that be?

From what I read, the fact the officer was armed was not a factor. He “subdued” the shooter meaning he physically took the kid out of action.

Friday was a baaaad news day for the gun-grabbers and 'Gun Free Zone' [aka: Free Fire Kill Zones] kooks, aka: criminal & whacko enablers .

Besides an Armed Off-Duty Cop stopping this punk from killing someone -- it appears this shotting was Gang Related (I'm Shocked!) -- the Newtown, CT School District now wants Armed Security Guards at all their schools. And yes, that's the Newtown, CT of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

So it sure appears that Wayne LaPierre was 100% right, and the Lamestream Media 'journalist' Morons who mocked him, and our oh-so loving and caring POTUS, was 100% WRONG!

The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun!
This Atlanta situation also proves another point: Just being armed for defense can sometimes be enough. That you don't necessarily have to USE your gun to stop the 'bad guy'. And that our streets would NOT be 'rivers of blood' if citizens all carried a weapon for defense of self and/or others.
[though there are a couple guys from my past I'd like to meet on Main Street at High Noon :-)]

I AM The NRA!

That's why I originally placed this story in the frontpage sidebar. When it was yanked from there, I put it in the extended news sidebar.

Both victim and criminal were black. Speculation even on the media is that the shooting was gang related - 15 yo shoots 14 yo. Gang connection makes sense. OF COURSE the mamma of the victim says her boy was not in a gang.
