California's state Senate Democrats roll out big gun control package (Considering to Confiscate)

All semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines would be banned, all guns would be registered and no ammunition could be bought without a special permit in California under a sweeping list of bills rolled out Thursday by state Senate Democrats.

The 10-bill package constitutes the single largest gun control push in decades in the Golden State, which already boasts some of the nation's strictest gun laws. It joins equally controversial proposals from Assembly Democrats that would regulate and tax ammunition sales and consider taking the state's 166,000 registered assault weapons from their owners.

This first unified California plan comes less than a month after New York adopted its own sweeping package of new gun controls and President Barack Obama announced a package of executive actions, all in the wake of December's Connecticut schoolhouse massacre. Even as this plan emerged Thursday, House Democrats' gun violence task force was announcing 15 "policy principles," including protecting Second Amendment rights but also instituting universal background checks and reinstating a federal assault weapons ban.

"We respect the Second Amendment right of law-abiding citizens to have guns for hunting, for sport,

proliferation of guns designed to be fired and reloaded rapidly," he said. "We can save lives by getting guns and ammunition out of the hands of the wrong people. We can save lives if every gun owner knows how to safely handle those guns. And if we can save lives, we must act to do so."

Gene Hoffman of Redwood City, co-founder and chairman of the Calguns Foundation gun rights group, countered that "almost every item in the proposal is wildly unconstitutional."

California is one of the most beautiful states in the country. Sad to see it ruined by the MARXISTS and ILLEGALS.

You’re gonna have to get out Jim. You’re welcome with open arms here in Texas!

Mass non-compliance...CORRECT! Remember, refuse, delay, deny, obstruct, sabotage.

If we could only take this same step with a tax revolt. Starve the beast!

I understand. My parents are, even now, in the process of leaving the Golden State. It is definately harder for them to leave than it was for me.

I was joking with you because there really is an exodus in progress from that formerly-great state, and I have seen many posts on FR from those in more Conservative-friendly states advising the refugees to settle in states other than their own :-)

It seems unfair that the Liberals cannot be FORCED to stay in the mess they’ve made and stew in it. But they emmigrate, just like those who have been made to suffer by Liberal stupidity and bring their stupid
Liberal ideology with them, untarnished by the damage they gave caused.

In only a few years here in Idaho, I see a marked increase in the “I’m Proud to be an Idiot” bumper-stickers that are the hallmark of a Liberal.

“I was joking with you...”

Iknew you were joking but thinking of moving hurts me thinking about it.

I don’t believe liberals from California are moving to Texas - they hate us. I do believe conservatives are moving here.

Some have said Democrats in Texas don’t want us to have guns. That is not true. Democrats here are first Texans before they are Democrats. Democrats here are gun people because they are Texans and Republicans are also Texans first and are gun owners.

Will the California Minutemen be ready?

They may leave, but they will not stop the inevitable.

This communist hell raining down on California is the result of conservatives sitting on their fat asses for 40 years, while the leftists sent their troops to take over. And you did nothing.

Hard words, but truer words were never spoken Sarge.

The people of California voted themselves into slavery. Certainly if a resident does not want to live under a fascist regime they could leave the state, for now but how much longer? Take their weapons with them. Taking their businesses with them. Taking their tax dollars with them. Tough decision. Leave only the folks genetically predisposed to being slaves, you know democrats and the like. There are still free states to move to and bolster the defenses. We'd be glad to have you.

Yes I have noticed those bumper stickers too. However if we can encourage the conservatives to leave CA. and come here they will bolster our numbers. The Democrats here still meet in a phone booth with the exception of Sun Valley and the ( fitting) Moscow area.

Dirty little secret, the new super minority has little use for the wrinkle old white prunes who are the face of California liberalism. While they might not be of much use at instituting good governance, they will basically thumb their nose at the libs.

“How can that be? They can vote in anything they want....”

We ARE talking the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution here. I believe in spite of the Leftist domination of our legislature here in California there will be severest of repercussions to anything the Leftist Democrats will propose, or make into law.

I’d agree with your sentiments were it NOT the 2nd Amendment the Leftists were screwing around with.

We shall have to wait, and see.

“We can save lives by getting guns and ammunition out of the hands of the wrong people.”

By wrong people they must mean law-abiding gun owners.

These Progressives are definitely insane or engaged in the conspiracy to end all conspiracies.

IMHO

“Tough to believe this is even worse than what we are facing here in the People’s Republic of Maryland, but it may be worse!”

The blue states are currently engaged in a competition to see which one can enact the most restrictive gun laws.

California may win this one, making New York state look tame by comparison.

There really isn’t much conservatives and Second Amendment supporters can do there to resist. The only legal recourse will be through the courts, and that’s a crapshoot.

It should be obvious to conservatives now that if they value their Second Amendment rights, they had best get themselves into red states that respect those rights. The alternative is defiance of the blue state laws. No way of telling yet just how authoritarian these states are going to become regarding enforcement of such laws.

This is one more indicator of the fault lines that are growing between the new-slave (blue) and the free (red) states. And we know which side the D.C. government is on...

They've been waiting to have this legislative control to impose their will on the people

And who elected the Legislature?

You have to think outside the box. It's "the People" who are voting that are the problem.

Our rights come from God, NOT from "the People". When "the People" demand the abolition of God-given rights, the system has failed decisively.

It's time to start discussing what comes next.

In CA.....they required ALL SKS rifles be registered .

If I had a SKS, it may NOT have a detachable magazine but it may be loaded with stripper clip,.... IF I had a SKS.
