Is DHS Ammo For Obama's "National Security Force"?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | February 12, 2013 | IBD EDITORIALS

Posted on 02/12/2013 5:18:39 PM PST by raptor22

Gun Control: Our future president in 2008 called for "a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the military. Should the "bitter-clingers" be worried?

As Andrew Malcolm has noted on these pages, the Department of Homeland Security has been buying lots of ammo, enough by one calculation to fight the equivalent of a 24-year Iraqi War. Some have speculated about a link between the stockpiling between candidate Obama's off-prompter campaign remarks about a national security force and the stockpiling by DHS of more than 1.6 billion (with a 'b') bullets.

DHS has been buying more than bullets. As we noted in a recent editorial, DHS is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO "personal defense weapons" (PDW) — also known as "assault weapons" when owned by civilians. The request, issued on June 7, 2012, calls these AR-15 variants "select-fire" weapons, meaning they can be both semi-automatic and automatic.

Additionally, DHS is asking for 30 round magazines that "have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds."

To what purpose is a civilian agency arming itself to the teeth at the same time the administration has been making war on the Second Amendment and pushing for stricter gun control measures such as universal background checks, while others, such as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, hint at outright confiscation?

How many DHS agents actually carry guns? Seems to me like a lot of the DHS folks are pencil pushers.

As much as I’d like to avoid such a contentious engagement, 7000+ against millions...

I kinda like our odds...

Even with their 16 million cases of ammo to go through, I just don’t think they’ll get much of a chance to use that much against us...

The “average liberal” doesn’t envision himself as doing the fighting.

For a liberal, the whole point of establishing the [police] State is to use that State to murder those that resist you.

They envision “the government” taking care of these “rebels”. This is the whole emotional side when discussing the Civil War - they loved the idea of the federal army killing, raping, and “scortched-earthing” the people that dared rebel.

Bring him a box of fresh donuts in the morning and ask him when the ammo shipment USUALLY comes in.

..an interesting place to start a conversation these days is standing next to the empty ammo case at the local Walmart—this very topic came up yesterday...

Do you have a source for any previous ammo orders?

Same one everyone else has.

Then why is this the first time ever that this much ammo was ordered?

How do we know this is the first time? This could have been going on for some time and someone just noticed a year or so ago when these stories started breaking.

Estimates I've seen of civilian ammo stocks are in the billions.

Colorado Anti-NDAA Bill Heads To Committee

February 12, 2013 By Breaking News 1 Comment

Colorado’s “anti-NDAA” legislation was first introduced and assigned to the House State, Military, and Veteran Affairs Committee last month. Now, on Feb. 13, the bill will reach its first hearing.

Colorado’s bill is another in a string of similar bills in other states introduced this legislative session to combat and stop certain provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.

Similar to Washington State’s legislation, Colorado’s version focuses on the problems with Section 1021 of the 2012 NDAA that purportedly authorizes the inclusion of U.S. citizens in its definition of “covered persons,” i.e. suspected terrorists, who can be indefinitely detained by the military without charge or trial.

I disagree with your assessment, Stormdog.

I believe Obama is keeping our military mired in battles across the globe to justify the creation of a new civilian force that will be backed by taxpayer dollars and consist wholly of Obamabots and weekend-warrior types who become cops and think they’re above everyone else because they strap on a duty belt and a .40 everyday for work.

The military will be so entrenched and weakened due to excessive and unending deployments that the true patriots, the men and women who take their oath seriously, won’t be able to come back to defend those of us who need their knowledge and training in urban warfare and tactical strategies to beat the thugs who will be part of Obama’s civilian defense force.

I don't think the average liberal has what it takes to stay in a fight. They'll be happy with marching, flashy uniforms and catchy slogans. When it gets up close and personal with a pissed off patriot they'll wilt.

You're missing the point. Without patriots working and producing to fill the tax coffers, liberals would almost all starve to death. They would be fighting for their very survival.

“...We’re safe, they’ll shoot themselves. In the face!!!...”

Don’t count on it. That’s not who we’d be up against.

There’s plenty of folks wearing badges and/or uniforms who will gladly drop hammer on citizens if ordered to, without a second thought.

Never underestimate the enemy, friend.
