Swedish photographer Paul Hansen won the 2012 World Press Photo award Friday for newspaper Dagens Nyheter with a picture of two Palestinian children killed in an Israeli missile strike being carried to their funeral.
The picture shows a group of men marching the dead bodies through a narrow street in Gaza City. The victims, a brother and sister, are wrapped in white cloth with only their faces showing.

Hansen's Nov. 20 shot won top prize in both the spot news single photograph category and the overall competition. It portrays 2-year-old Suhaib Hijazi and her 3-year-old brother Muhammad, who were killed when their house was destroyed by the Israeli attack. They are being carried by grieving uncles, as their father Fouad was also killed, and his body can be seen in the background of the picture. The children's mother, whose name was not provided, was in intensive care.

Wonder which one of those Tangos hid behind the kids who took the shrapnel?
Murdered by islam.
March 2012 Toulouse
That kid on the right is pouting... actually, he don’t look too happy. Probably VERY angry with his father for making him lie still for so long with his eyes closed.
Did any of them jump off and run the rest of the way?
Israel would not have to “strike” if it wasn’t for the fact that its neighbors work so very hard to see it wiped off the face of the earth. Golda Meir was indeed right.
Wonder how many times the photographer made them do the take before he was satisfied? I can hear him yelling “No, no no! The girl on the right opened her eyes last time! C’mon people, let’s get this right, OK? You, carrying the girl! Let’s see some more tears!”
The story line is the overused use of emotionalism to make us understand that wrong is right and right is wrong.
Fail.
Israel is one of the few things left that is worth defending.

You never see these apologists for terrorism rushing to take pictures when Israeli children are murdered by Jihadists.
Would they act so smug if their own children were murdered by the haters?
“Green Helmet Guy” was providing direction in the background.
I see nothing in that photo that merits an award. One can go to any country at war and find parents grieving.
Bookmarked
Is this the one where the barbarians killed the children themselves, or the one where they were just using them for human shields?
Oops..
There are plenty of expert morticians in Syria, and it would be a shame (from the terrorist perspective) to let the children killed by their civil war go to waste. It would not surprise me if terrorists were exporting their dead preschoolers for photo opportunities. "Mr. Hansen, we have two more incoming from Damascus - ages two and three - and we've already arranged for photo placement in sympathetic media outlets and for artistic awards. What time would you like for us to stage a funeral procession for the best lighting?"
