The recent leak of a Department of Justice white paper on the legal justification for the use of drones to execute American citizens abroad accused of terrorism raises some very important constitutional and moral issues. Politicians should not decide the crime and the punishment for American citizens here or abroad. A trial by jury with a judge is a right to be prized by American citizens.
Now, if you join al Qaeda, bear arms and attack U.S. forces, no one will argue that you still have a right to a trial. In the heat of battle, everyone understands that those launching grenades will have no jurisprudence.
The Constitution provides for handling traitors. In fact, treason is one of four crimes that are truly federal under the Constitution.
I have no sympathy for Americans who denounce their country denounce their citizenship to fight against us. Similarly, I have no sympathy for murderers and rapists within the United States. I do, however, insist that the murderers and rapists we punish be guilty and found guilty by a jury and a judge.
Why? Why can we not just kill Americans who dissent? For one, because our government has already shown recklessness in defining who is a terrorist. Fusion centers in Missouri defined pro-life and pro-border-security hawks as potential terrorists. The Department of Justice produced a list of characteristics of terrorists that we should report to the government: people missing fingers; people whove changed the color of their hair; people who like to pay in cash; people who have more than seven days of food; and people who buy weatherized ammunition.

My guess would be Marco Rubio.
Probably some high profile freeper ;-)
Probably Ben Carson; no black man is permitted to criticize the won.
From the thread article:
“Mr. Obamas pick for drone-killer-in-chief, John O. Brennan, says the 2001 authorization for military force after Sept. 11 authorizes him to kill American citizens, and it ‘does not contain a geographical limitation.’
“No geographical limitation? Our border, one would hope, is a geographical limitation that would limit drone strikes.”
>> I have no sympathy for ... [but insist on due process]
My indifference to vigilantism is only kept in check by the necessity of consistent jurisprudence.
Are we against drones? For some reason I kinda like the program. I hope I am not on the wrong side of this program. I guess I just feel that it is a great tool to use for War on Terrorism. FREEPERS what are your thoughts?
Obama: The rules for drone strikes are different here in the U.S. than they are overseas

Well, FReeps, it's been nice knowin' ya!
Anyone he desires to target.
Who is gonna stop him?
Ojanago unchained rules our nations and our children.
I think the war on terror will morph into the war against American subjects

Breibart and Stevens probably wouldn’t approve of it...: )
I think we all know that is not true. This will be the justification for eliminating "enemies of the State" and/or enemies of the Leader probably sooner, rather than later. At first patriot and conservative types will have accidents and heart attacks but the frequency similarity of the deaths will suggest lack of coincidence at some point and the government will eventually rationalize the killings with reference to that law.
Drones are like guns or incinerators - they have useful purposes but can and will be deadly to Freedom in the wrong hands. Today, our government constitutes "the wrong hands".
You are sadly mistaken. 0bama is first and foremost a chi-town street thug and if you get in his way, or cause him problems, he will have absolutely no qualms about taking you out. Who else could take a nap on Sept. 11, 2012 while Americans were being tortured and slaughtered?
