Whispers hears that staff aren't too pleased with the announcement Tuesday that the White House is canceling all future tours of the building due to sequestration, the across-the-board spending cuts that went into effect last Friday.

White House staff members are now tasked with informing numerous spring and summer constituents who booked White House tours that the walk-throughs have been canceled.

White House tours, which are actually self-guided and take place in the mornings on Tuesday through Saturday (except on federal holidays), are generally reserved through a constituent's congressman or congresswoman. The White House is an especially popular destination in the Spring.

But never fear: according to the Washington Examiner, the White House Easter Egg Roll this April is still a go.

Where is the savings? The White House is there and the tours are self-guided during morning weekday hours when the regular White House staff is present and on duty.

Ha, what am I thinking. Taste, good sense, and decency does not exist in Washington. So please, when you belly up to the free bar at the next White House shinding, please remember that due to sequester cuts, the bartender is only being given a 20% tip, so be generous, and drop a couple bucks in the Democrat campaign bucket, if you would.

Why aren’t the White House Staff upset because they are losing their jobs?

I mean, if they are cutting the tours, it must mean that they are laying off the White House Staff that would do the tours, right?

But look — they are all going to work overtime telling people the tours are cancelled. And none of them think they are getting furloughed or laid off.

Representative Louie Gohmert (R., Texas) has filed an amendment to the House GOP’s six-month continuing resolution that would bar federal funds from being spent on President Obama’s golf outings until public tours of the White House start up again.

Earlier today, the White House announced that it was cancelling public tours beginning March 9 as a result of spending cuts mandated by sequestration.

If I understood her correctly, political consultant Maryy Matalin just mentioned the following on Fx News concerning sequestration and discontinued WH tours. She indicated that WH tour guides were volunteers, at least when she was associated with White House. Corrections welcome.

However, I don’t know about possibly different arrangements for tour guides under Obama. After all, we’re talking about a corrupt president who would put his dog on salary to argue a lower unemployment rate.
