It was embarrassing for Iraq. I can’t remember the kill ratios but I think we only lost a couple Bradleys from enemy fire.
It was even more embarrassing for Russia. That conflict proved yet again that Soviet/Russian weapons platforms and military doctrines simply wilt in the fact of US/Western firepower. I'm not saying their stuff is bad, only that our stuff really is that much better in most cases - and we and our allies tend to be able to afford 10 times more training on the equipment.
Not trying to get too overconfident here, just throwing in my agreement that the media does indeed have a habit of overestimating the opposition.
Yup, I too remember the media casualty estimates going into Desert Storm. We were supposedly going to face 10,000 KIA's. In reality we lost about 250 dead - and a big chunk of those was one SCUD hitting a barracks.
The reality is that in an actual war, South Korea could easily defeat the North - without us if they needed to. If North Korea attacks the South in a significant way, it would be the end of North Korea - and everyone knows it. North Korea has an antiquated military, largely made up of 1950's/1960's technology. South Korea has a first world military with the latest gear, training and tactics. The North could do some damage, would probably use poison gas in an attempt to deny the South their airfields, would likely shell Seoul to cause chaos, etc. It wouldn't take long though for the North's offensive to collapse and fall to pieces - they probably don't even have the food or supply logistics for more than a few days of real fighting.
EMP seems to escape our consciousness. Why is that? It was always the “go to” first strike in the cold war because it would completely shut down the country.
Why waste a nuke by blowing up Soul or Tokyo when an EMP would kill 80% of their population and completely destroy their ability to produce goods.
FACT: In 2004 several high ranking Russian military testified to the Congressional EMP Commission that plans for a “Super EMP” nuke had leaked to NK (and now Iran).
Fact: A Nuke 250 miles over Chicago would cause the death of 90% of the US population (EMP Commission). Question, why waste a nuke killing a few million in a city unless you can’t put one into orbit.
A night satellite photo of the Japanese Sea shows S. Korea and Japan very brightly lit and N. Korea black. A nuke detonated only 50 miles over the Japanese Sea would take out all of N. Korea and most of Japan without hurting N. Korea at all. Who would benefit from this? China and Russia as the USA fades into economic oblivion and China and Russia step in to pick up the slack from SK and J.
By the way, NK does have a delivery system to reach any coastal city in the world. It is called a boat. Same for Iran.
In your own life prepare for a time when, from time to time one of our coastal cities is nuked. The Nuclear Genie is out of the bottle for good now.
American people ......for the most part....and outside of our large governmental institutions are a force for good. But, by and large, our greedy wall street/government duo has been a bully and a thug of the most corrupt and dangerous nature.
Putrid corruption emanating from the leadership of the these America hating countries is easy to cover-up using the rotten stench from our own vile business and governmental "leaders" cough...cough!!
a friend on mine was in intelligence, and his job was to monitor NK fishing boats; that was 30 years ago, so I would guess using today’s equipment, fat-boy, can’t go to the toilet, without someone knowing about it....by the way, where does NK, get their fuel, knock down the tankers heading that way, and they all freeze in the dark....

...what if it’s misdirection? What if there trying to get us to focus on them, when something else is in the works someplace else? ... pay special attention to people and communications moving north from Venezuela, where a very important election campaign has just begun to choose the successor to Hugo Chavez. The bus driver who served as his vice president would benefit from some dramatic event inside the United States, and the Russians, Iranians and Chinese are actively working for his victory.
It is easy to cover up with our own media!

China is playing us: We continue to send our factories there, yet do nothing as China has not become larger in exporting than America was.
We must stop importing so much and return American manufacturing.

North Korea is a charter member of the Axis of Evil, and works hand in glove with the other surviving regime of that infamous trinity, Iran. I’ve been writing for years about the intimate relationship between the two, ranging from North Korean assistance in digging tunnels in Iranian mountains and in the Tehran subway system, to Iranian cooperation with North Korean missile and nuclear programs. Let’s just say that they work together a lot. So when I see the North Koreans jumping up and down and threatening to nuke us, I ask myself what’s in it for the Iranians? And I add the others in the global anti-American alliance. What’s in it for the Chinese? The Russians? The Venezuelans, Bolivians, Ecuadorians and Nicaraguans? Because all these guys coordinate so many of their activities that I can’t understand important events in any one of them without putting those events in the big context. When I see the Russians and the Chinese fighting against anti-Iranian sanctions, I remind myself that they, along with the Latin Americans, are in a banking network with Iran. When the Iranians sit down to negotiate about their nuclear program, I ask myself: what do the Russians want?

If you add the Central/South American countries into the mix, they frequently have fishing vessels along our coasts. The alliance becomes deadly when you consider who has what in the weapon/delivery system/platform equation.
That's impressive HiJinx. Iranians are high on effective strategy... If they didn't have a cave man type religion, they'd be a force to reckon with...
