McConnell campaign asks for FBI investigation over leaked Ashley Judd tapes

By Caitlin Dewey, Updated: April 9, 2013

Mitch McConnell’s campaign has accused opponents of bugging McConnell’s headquarters and has asked for an FBI investigation after a recording from an internal campaign meeting surfaced on Mother Jones this morning.

The 12-minute tape reveals McConnell and his campaign staff lampooning then-potential candidate Ashley Judd, whom they call “a haystack of needles” or political liabilities, at a Feb. 2 meeting. Judd has since decided not to run.

“We’ve always said the Left will stop at nothing to attack Sen. McConnell, but Nixonian tactics to bug campaign headquarters is above and beyond,” McConnell campaign manager Jesse Benton said in a statement.

He added: “Senator McConnell’s campaign is working with the FBI and has notified the local U.S. Attorney in Louisville, per FBI request, about these recordings. Obviously a recording device of some kind was placed in Senator McConnell’s campaign office without consent. By whom and how that was accomplished presumably will be the subject of a criminal investigation.”

.........

Mother Jones’ David Corn does not specify how he got the tape, other than to say it came from an anonymous source. Corn also published the Romney “47 percent video” last year....

When did Mother Jones become the leading source of dirt for the Democrats? I thought it was a relatively obscure leftwing rag.

McConnel is what he is but this is against the law. Maybe Robert Redford can figure this out?

I don’t much about it. Maybe it’s the commie mothership. With a jagoff like David Corn there, it’s definitely marxist.

Politicians should learn that there is no such thing as privacy when they are talking about political topics. It used to be that a politician should do nothing that they wouldn't want to read about in the papers and now that rule has been extended to include speech. If you don't want to read about what you say in the papers, you shouldn't have said it.

That's the new reality. Just as we should all assume that we are being video-taped at all times in public, politicians should assume that their speech is also being constantly monitored.

They're still free to think anything they wish.

MotherF***er Jones cried lied a Red Diaper baby over Bush’s wiretapping of Americans.

http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2007/08/let-warrantless-wiretapping-resume

“The rest of us can worry about whether the NSA is using its enhanced surveillance authority to spy on Americans.”

SCREW THE SOCIALIST LEFT. They lie like Stalinists every time.

You'd think the Republicans would have figured out long ago that they ‘Rats are spying on them, and using sophisticated equipment to do so.

Remember the cell phone conversations which were intercepted?

Ashley played the role of the wife of the President in “Olympus Has Fallen.” She was last seen trapped in the Presidential limo as it went over a bridge into the icy waters. Sniff Sniff!

McConnell: The FBI should investigate this!

Obama FBI: Uh, yeah, we looked into it, everything is cool. Nothing to see here.

Poor Mitch, he’s going to get a dose of how it feels to be one of the little people.

Good grief, does this mean there's going to be a sequel?

Don't know if there will be a sequel.

There was a fun part in the movie. A Secret Service agent (the movie hero) who was in charge of the President's safety was reassigned after the accident that killed the President's wife. He was in a restaurant and some Secret Agents were talking to him. One of the Agents, a black male, said to him, "So you're the one who told the Speaker of the House to go f... himself." I laughed because in present times, that could have been Boehner. A couple of years ago, it could have bee Pelosi (arguably a female). But what made this so special is that in this move, the Speaker of the House is played by MORGAN FREEMAN! ROFL!!

That is funny! Morgan Freeman is such a pompous ass, and a far left pompous ass at that.

Dems are only against wire-tapping Al Qaeda. You, they’ll monitor all day long.

We expected nothing less from Mitch McConnell and his camp than to take a personal struggle such as depression, which many Americans cope with on a daily basis, and turn it into a laughing matter

There's no evidence here to suggest that McConnell laughed about it.

His team brought up the fact that she had shown mental instability in the past. She was so messed up she was hospitalized. That's a valid point to bring up for someone running for Senate.

And I quote “what difference in the world does it make”?

This is Liberalism, a philosophy totally governed by the notion that the End justify the Means.

Nixon was a “monster” but the wire tapping spy’s from Mfr Jones are courageous hero’s.

There never again will be a time of consistency ever again in America.

The Culture Civil War has begun.

Was David Corn the one who secretly taped Romney when he was speaking to a group? Remember the tape about Romney using the 47% quote?
