Glenn Beck conspiracy theory: What's his evidence?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 4/24/2013 | Peter Grier

Posted on 04/24/2013 4:13:13 PM PDT by iowamark

Glenn Beck has spent lots of time in recent days alleging that the Boston Marathon bombing was carried out by a conspiracy that revolved around a shadowy Saudi national questioned by police in a Boston hospital in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy.

OK, is he just winging it here, or does the ex-Fox, now-independent radio and Internet video host have any real evidence for this charge?

He says he does, unsurprisingly. On his show Wednesday morning Mr. Beck produced a document that he claimed is an official US “event report” showing that the Saudi in question is a bad, bad man who was on a no-fly list and already subject to visa revocation.

What he didn’t mention is that Fox News reporter Bret Baier has already looked into this whole alleged Saudi conspiracy, including the document Beck deemed so revealing, and concluded that there was no there there, to paraphrase writer Gertrude Stein’s jibe about Oakland.

It’s “false and misleading” to use the internal document on the Saudi’s immigration status as evidence of the man’s involvement in the bombings, according to US officials quoted by Mr. Baier in a Fox video blog on April 23.

“The FBI says the Saudi [in question] was just a victim of the terrorist attack,” said Baier...

But Bret Baier had this piece of paper already. On Tuesday, he talked with US officials about it, and got a different story.

First off, Baier said the wording of the paper was indeed somewhat dire.

“Anyone looking at this would say this is a bad guy, this means they had a lot of stuff on this guy,” he said.

But officials told him it was simply an automatic piece of customs paperwork triggered when police went to question the Saudi in the hours after the bombing...

This is the plan dispute something that is not what is being alleged , Glenn is saying the documents prove he is a terror suspect and was before he arrived because this document shows two incidents. Trying to confuse the obtuse reporters and succeeding.

Ewww Bret. I don’t watch Fox anymore since the Saudi purchased it and it went left.

What keeps me up at night is the real stuff.

I want to see Beck’s “evidence”, so far he is not reporting items that haven’t been around before he released this ‘new’ stuff.
So either he is slow, and missing the time line or it’s not new........

Just read article and sadly they seem to be saying Beck is wrong and try to state why with an error.

From what I remember Beck said that first he (The Saudi man) had an expired visa and then Beck found out and stated the visa was good until (I Believe) Nov 2016.....the article seems to totally miss that point when trying to claim it’s a conspiracy theory and states Beck is wrong because he said the Visa is expired........

I think this kid was the financier. He was supposed to be in Ohio, but he’s spending a LOT of time in Boston.

Here is the problem. the bombing was only a week ago. obama met with the saudi foreign minister and they already cleared the guy and got him out of the country. the guy attended the bombers’ mosque. there also is this Misha who converted one bomber to radical islam and appears to be missing.

Napolitano did backflips to avoid answering questions about the Saudi under oath.

A bit quick of the authorities to clear and deport someone within a few days of a major terrorist attack?

consider how they got it wrong - repeatedly - on the older bomber. would you be clearing people before the bomb dust even settled?

Explain the Saudi’s burned hands. I have yet to hear ANY explanation of same.

The "burned hands" issue is one of those rumors that popped up in the days after the bombing (when there were all sorts of rumors flying around), and people seem to have latched on to it, despite a lack of evidence. It just doesnt make sense:

1) The pictures of the Saudi taken in the days after the bombing show no burns on his hands. Burns, particularly severe burns, don't heal that quickly;

2) In the pictures, he had an IV in his hand. If his hands were, in fact, burned, the medical staff would have inserted the IV elsewhere; and

3) What would "burned hands" even prove? That he was so close to the bomb--holding it, perhaps--that his hands were burned? Because, if he was close enough to the bomb that his hands were burned from the blast, he likely wouldn't have survived the blast, and even if he did, there would have been a whole lot of other damage in the pictures (shrapnel, etc.)

We are over the Target!

Woodward and Bernstein should have called Nixon and checked with him first.

Fascinating! Are they suggesting that Bret and Fox used their resources to get to the truth of this story?

So damn predictable and honestly, so very sad at the same time.

I wonder, those who are risking everything to come forward with this information, they must just be doing this for the thrill, right?

Once one understands how the cass sunsteens of the world operate, and distance themselves enough to see, hear and do their own critical thinking, it becomes so clear how this sick game is played.

It would aid Bret to take a moment to get ALL the facts vs. the ones he is being fed by DHS et al. Which btw, Bret wasn’t reporting, he was reading talking points.

There WAS a file in place for the lil saudi BEFORE the boston bombing -

Wonder where the 15K foreign students are wandering around? Of the 75K here, 15K have NOT reported to their stated destinations. Where the heck are they???

Just tell me why a Saudi student was visiting the White House

According to the visitor logs, all but one of the visits listed were for "group tours."

and why Michelle visited him.

She visited victims of the bombing in two Boston-area hospitals, including the one where the Saudi was being treated. There are pictures of her visiting other patients as well.

The media reminds me of our stupid government..lol. Government asks the terrorists..are you a terrorist? No...case closed. Media asks the government if there could have been failures and or complicity in gov. agencies..no..case closed.

Lol..glad we have Free Republic and a separate conservative media out there digging.

“Anyone looking at this would say this is a bad guy, this means they had a lot of stuff on this guy,” he said.

That was Brett's explanation for the 212 3b status which is exactly how Glenn Beck read the meaning of that. In his next sentence Brett says "all of that was triggered by being put on the 'no fly list' after the bombing." That doesn't make sense. Beck also has said that there was a previous event file made on Alharbi.

His burned hands is due to him being a victim of the bombing.

I meant this thread, not Baier .. as in: here's another thread to keep track of .. lol

But seriously, driving yourself into the ground with lack of sleep won't do our cause the least bit of good.

I find one Tylenol PM (or generic equivalent) quite helpful on sleepless nights.

My take as well.

I mean, assuming arguendo that Glenn is alleging that the document tends to tie the Saudi to the bombing (which he doesn’t)— the U.S. government says it’s “false and misleading” to use IT’S OWN document. Good grief.

So, what injuries did he have that required hospitalization and a Wookie visit?

The pics showed at least one bandaged hand and nothing else.

That Saudi purchased just over a majority of Fox. Hence it’s now left turn.
