IDF Targets Gaza-based Global Jihadist

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israeli pilots killed a known Global Jihad terrorist in a pinpoint airstrike Tuesday morning as he traveled on his motorbike in the northern Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued shortly after the airstrike, the Israel Defense Forces Spokesman's Office said Hithem Ziad Ibrahim Masshal, 24, a weapons expert linked to the recent rocket attacks on Eilat, was active in several Salafi-jihadi groups.
"Masshal acted in different Jihad Salafi terror organizations and over the past few years has been a key terror figure, specializing in weapons and working with all of the terror organizations in the Gaza Strip," the statement read.
"He assisted the Shura Council of the Mujahaideen in Jerusalem -- an organization consisting of Salafi operatives under the Global Jihad -- and was involved in extensive terror activity against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers."
The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the IDF carried out the joint operation.
"Masshal dealt in the manufacturing, upgrading, and trade of firearms, particularly rockets and bombs, which he delivered to various terror organizations for profit and to promote terrorism against the IDF and Israeli civilians," the Shin Bet said.
