Mark Sanford Wins

A special good morning to my liberal friends who thought they might win in SC-01, but lost. Now, I know you are in high dudgeons today about the GOP and family values and Mark Sanford. But let's just start with a reality check — Mark Sanford may have cheated on his wife, but your hero Teddy Kennedy killed a lady. Good morning!

Mark Sanford has won the special election in South Carolina’s first congressional district.

He was abandoned by much of the South Carolina congressional delegation.

He was abandoned by the NRCC and its fundraising.

The Democrats outspent him by more than a 3 to 1 advantage.

But the district favored him to begin with. Despite panic a few weeks ago, he recovered rapidly and closed a ten point gap.

I was with Mark Sanford in the beginning despite unmitigated hell from lots of Republicans who were outraged by my supporting him. As I said then, he was the most risky candidate, but potentially the greatest reward in how he’d vote in Congress.

I am glad the voters of South Carolina chose to give him a second chance. Mark Sanford wins again. I guess the Democrats will blame Busch.

Already they claim the GOP, as the party of “family values”, is hypocritical for voting for Mark Sanford. The party of Bill Clinton and Kermit Gosnell could, of course, never be accused of supporting family values. More over, many of the very same Democrats claiming Sanford’s win is a loss for women will be out next year opposing Nikki Haley’s re-election.

The fact is neither side should read more into this election that there was. Elizabeth Colbert-Busch was a terrible candidate, horrible at retail politics. Mark Sanford thrives on retail politics. Lastly, and most importantly, the district was drawn to be a Republican district, though had Colbert-Busch been a better retail politician, she would have done much better.

On election day, Sanford had ten events in addition to voting. Elizabeth Colbert-Busch voted and disappeared.

Honestly, in a nut shell, despite what you may hear in the media, there are still places in America that hate liberals and would rather a deeply flawed Mark Sanford than an elitist liberal.

We don’t know the behind the scenes marriage relationship between Sandford and his former wife. And to their credit was we’re spared the Ryan scandal treatment, (Illinois US Seante race) which gave US the communists who are busy dismanteling US, our systems, our beliefs, and our culture now in power.

The Demo-Coms lost because they decided to run a fellow traveller dedicated to their causes. Even if another candidate was picked most wouldn’t believe a “whoever” but might have wound up with a better count. Because America now knows anybody who runs under the democrat party label is a liar.

RE :”Republicans vs. Democrats: Maybe A Dime's Worth Of Difference”

Certainly true with Mccain and Grahmanesty.

Look at their recent votes on guns, internet taxes and their positions on the Dems amnesty bill.

BUT no marriage problems for the two.

Went over to DU to check out their response, quite funny the screams of adulterer were in almost every post. Just like they were with Bill and Monica. Wait a minute they defended that adulterer.

The Alinsky tactic of forcing the opposition to live up to their own standards. In this case it failed.

Sanford is by far the lesser evil...

But he is still evil.

Reminds me of what Kissinger said during the Iran Iraq War...."Too bad the both can't lose."

Maybe a dime. Probably a lot less.

GWBush and Laura appeared to have the ideal marriage yet what did he do to protect marriage in his eight years?

Clinton signed DOMA(ironically) and DADT, while GWB signed the single Mom tax credit.

3:1 Dem spending advantage with a semi-celebrity candidate against a Republican THIS flawed? And the Dem still lost?
By nine points??

This bodes VERY VERY VERY BAD THINGS for the Donks in ‘14.
As Obamacare begins imploding in earnest, even the Todd Akin candidates are likely to be beating Democrats by then.

Let the fear and panic commence.

Yep. Their Low Information Voters were home with the six pack instead of at the polls like they are with Barry on the ballot.

Grahamnesty is a contemptable deceptive dishonest weazel.

I hate McCain but I dont find even him as sleazy(dishonest) as Grahmanesty.

I despise Mark Sanford, but liberalism is pure evil, while Sanford is merely sleazy and lacking in class, discretion, and common sense.

You hit the mark with your post.

While Sanford is a flawed candidate, this race is important because it sets the tone for 2014.

A Dem win gets their ball rolling, esp on the financial side. A loss is a setback. People - especially short attention span Dems - move on and keep their wallets buttoned.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but in a choice between two sleezebags, I suppose that I'll always pick the one who will vote the way I want.

read the news? have you?

No a guy doesnt go “visit his kids” repeatedly trespassing into his ex wife’s house against a court order, and finally get caught sneaking out the back door of a his ex-wifes house using his cell phone for a flashlight

hasnt Jenny Sanford put up with enough BS from this arrogant prick? Maybe you think she is lying about this AND filing false charges?? What is her track record of lying vs his? I hope she gets a mega alarm system and a pitbull too

this man Sanford is not right in the head, folks
Who acts the way he has acted?
Hope no harm comes to his ex wife

surely surely the GOP could do better

I agree. One comes to the conclusion that politicians are the least qualified to be leaders. *sigh*

“These men,(in government)in point of fact, are seldom if ever moved by anything rationally describable as public spirit; there is actually no more public spirit among them than among so many burglars or street-walkers. Their purpose, first, last and all the time, is to promote their private advantage, and to that end, and that end alone, they exercise all the vast powers that are in their hands....” ~ H.L. Mencken
