The Benghazi Lie - A failure of character of this magnitude corrodes the integrity of the state.
National Review Online ^ | May 10, 2013 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 05/10/2013 3:22:09 PM PDT by neverdem

Shortly before last November’s election I took part in a Fox News documentary on Benghazi, whose other participants included the former governor of New Hampshire John Sununu. Making chit-chat while the camera crew were setting up, Governor Sununu said to me that in his view Benghazi mattered because it was “a question of character.” That’s correct. On a question of foreign policy or counterterrorism strategy, men of good faith can make the wrong decisions. But a failure of character corrodes the integrity of the state...

--snip--

But, at the time Deputy Chief Hicks was calling 9-1-1 and getting executive-branch voicemail, nobody in Washington knew how long it would last. A terrorist attack isn’t like a soccer game, over in 90 minutes. If it is a sport, it’s more like a tennis match: Whether it’s all over in three sets or goes to five depends on how hard the other guy pushes back. The government of the United States took the extremely strange decision to lose in straight sets\...

Where’s the “partisan politics”? Obama, Clinton, Panetta, Clapper, Rice, and the rest did this to one of their own. And fawning court eunuchs, like the ranking Democrat at the hearings, Elijah Cummings, must surely know that, if they needed, they’d do it to them, too. If you believe in politics über alles, it’s impressive, in the same way that Hillary’s cocksure dismissal — “What difference, at this point, does it make?” — is impressive.

But the embassy security chief, Eric Nordstrom, had the best answer to that: It matters because “the truth matters” — not least to the Libyan president, who ever since has held the U.S. government in utter contempt. Truth matters, and character matters. For the American people to accept the Obama-Clinton lie is to be complicit in it.

Or as Greg Gutfield said: “The media is Obama’s scandal condom”.

Of course it’s applicable. A country doesn’t survive without it. It’s a matter of Natural Law, it cannot be avoided, regardless of the public opinion, or, in this case, mob rule.

It’s why this story is never going to go away. he can wag the dog and pony show, but it will come back again.

And this story bears the truth and the example of just why people of character don’t want him in power- it’s politics but no it’s way beyond politics.

Actually, It SHOWS Why integrity can’t be just a matter of style and phase.

Where are the hero’s in the media? They all seem like a bunch of useless hacks for Obama. Some of those so called journalists look like stupid clowns.

The average person is too busy watching sports or being entertained to devote time to the news. Some people even believe Ben Ghazi is some kind of t.v. show for entertainment.

“If Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham and others want to go after somebody, they should go after me,” Obama said, adding: “When they go after the U.N. ambassador apparently because they think she’s an easy target, then they’ve got a problem with me.”

I agree with you, so I am VERY proud to say that my 21 year old daughter listens to conservative talk radio and goes to bed at night listening to The Blaze on her smart phone.

And she isn’t shy about telling her friends what they aren’t hearing.

And what the average person defines as news is more inline with conspicuous consumption or fast food sound bites, i.e. it must come from Dr OZ or Judge Judy, then require the individual to do some reading and reseach, to sort the feel good propaganda from hard facts they may not like.

Maybe the Clintons will turn on Obama before this is over.
They could send out Carville etc. to get the heat off of Hillary.

Yes, we know the “what” and the “who.” But what about the “WHY?” Why not allow forces to go in and try to save our people...why abandon them at their greatest hour of need? That’s what I don’t get. WHY?

And so the entire U.S. military was stood down in support of the commander-in-chief’s fiction...the forgotten man in the hearings seemed to be Mr. Thompson, who was apparently as near as I could figure out like the guy at the 911 desk in your local government - have a fire, have an accident and you call 911 and get some sort of assistance right away - in the case of an attack on your embassy, you would get a team of specially trained marines and other military types. But Mr. Thompson testified that he was never called the night of the Benghazi attack - instead his "bureau chief" was called and he never was given the word to go to the rescue - try calling your mayor first to see if he'll given permission for the trucks to roll next time you have a fire........

“And all terrorists see the US again reacting weakly to terrorism in the pre-911 mode.”

Just imagine these motivated Islamist Terrorists with just a handful of the MANPADS still missing from Qaddafi's arsenal at their desposal?

As of February, 2012 only 5,000 were identified, recovered and secured. Funny how NYT doesn't report on that.

If anyone has more recent info, I'd appreciated it.

Hillary wasn’t ready for her 3am phone call.

And neither was the President. I am willing to bet Valerie Jarrett answered the phone and told General Ham to stand down.
