Its not a stretch to suggest that Americans are over medicated. In 2011 doctors across the nation wrote an astounding four billion medical prescriptions, amounting to an average of 13 prescriptions for every man, woman and child in the United States.
In the next few weeks the American Psychiatric Associations is releasing their updated fifth version their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5); the so-called bible of psychiatric diagnoses. The new manual promises to take mental illness and the use of prescription drugs to a whole new level.
You may not be considered crazy or mentally ill today, but under the new guidelines experts say half of us will be diagnosed with a psychiatric condition in the future.

And this is how they plan to take guns away from free citizens.
There are very real mental illnesses - like Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder (what my youngest son has) and BiPolar and clinical depression. These are real, biological illnesses of the brain and are also known to be genetic in nature. I teach a 12-week course called “Family to Family” to families who have s loved one with a serious mental illness. If anyone knows of a ffamily with an ill relative, please tell them about NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and the Family to Family 12-week course.
Liberalism?
I’m not sure what scares me more. Mental illness, or the physicians they report to.
Some of the strangest people I’ve met worked in this profession.
Some of the nicest too. Just sayin...

as well as our children, and emergency food supplies. Senior citizens will be also be committed because they “can’t remember.”
Precisely!
Preppers=Hoarders. We are now all mentally ill.
But homosexuality, especially in males, is not, since 1973, abhorrent behavior even though their average life spans are 39 if they have AIDS and 41 if they don’t.
So, the above disgusting behavior is still not listed as a character and behavior order as it very well should be.
American Psychiatric Association should be ashamed of itself.
Thanks for your note. There are those who are still holding out for early childhood experience and environmental factors as a CAUSE ~ the current wiki article on schizoaffective disorder says, quite typically “genetics, early environment, neurobiology, psychological and social processes are important contributory factors.” ~ It’s been almost a whole month now since the conditions were determined to be derivative of specific genetic structures. You’d think they had time to catch up.
Senior citizens will be also be committed because they cant remember.

“I can’t remember it EVER being this bad”.
Obviously ‘you’ are suffering from dimentia because you forget ‘Bush’....
I guess my tag line, + being former Military will definitely put me in their ‘cross hairs’..
,,.Good luck with that.... <:L <: <:
If folks can be committed because they can’t remember, that’s a slam dunk for committing most of the Obama administration.
I happen to agree with them, to some extent.
HOARDING is a mental disorder. It means collecting stuff that has no real value today, or tomorrow, in any forseable circumstance.
However...
PREPPING is NOT a mental disorder. That means preparing for well-defined, possible, future situations - such as a hurricane, or an EMP blast. Having a bunch of empty (and moldy) soda bottles is NOT prepping. Having a bunch of freeze-dried food, water, and a water collection and purification system is prepping.
Lumping them together, as others have said, is simply a way to make it easier to take our guns away.
Of course they once again leave Homosexuality off the list of Psychiatric illness.
The Obama administration are just suffering from undo stress caused by those with PCD (Paranoid Conservative Disorder)
There are batty hoarders who will keep every decades old jar, every swelled can, that sort of thing and this is probably what they are ostensibly targeting in the book. But it’s not hard to see how it could be devilishly twisted to condemn prepping, and didn’t this used to just be considered a kind of obsessive-compulsive disorder? What category is next, “Cat ladies”?
And whoever gets to define “hoarding” wins the game forever.
‘cause under 0bamacare these new diagnoses will be billable.
