Here is the comment
“Many people ( Bloggers as opposed to ACTUAL trained critics and the sheeple that suck the teat of places like rotten tomatoes) want to quickly point blame at M. Night but many of “us” know the real reason this movie is getting down rated so fast...
the majority of Audiences are NOT comfortable with the image of a STRONG caring Black father and a son who loves and respects him...
(many are comfortable with quite the opposite...i.e. Scandal being one of the highest rated shows on Tv right now... However, the majority of black characters on that show AND Grey’s Anatomy have F’ed up relations towards each other and the people around them, which reflects poorly on them)
Also many of these negative reviews allude to NOT being comfortable with the deviation of Will Smith from the “shucking and jiving” sterotypical black characters he usually plays,
( hitch, agent J, Mike in bad boys, Hancock, the fresh prince, even the main character in I am legend wasn’t as well spoken as this character in after earth)...although the character is acted well for its context.
Lastly Like many of M.Night’s movies have some sort of messages with them...
(Devil was a strange take on human nature, the happening was about the environment as this movie is also about the environment,as well as a parable and comming of age tale)
Just like how so many irrationally cannot take orders from out president and hide behind crap like “benghazi” and “Obama care” the same situation is unfolding... people CANNOT Take seeing black men have themselves together and TEACHING other people a lesson.
so old white reviewers hide behind arguments of plotholes and dialogue to mask what REALLY made them uncomfortable... Hollywood is slowly ( VERY slowly ) changing its sterotypes because, powerful people like Will Smith are FORCING change.”
If one watches current media one would think America’s population is composed of blacks.
I’m actually looking forward to seeing it.
I refuse to comment about the movie, not because I’m worried about possibly racism, but because it’s a Scientology project and those guys are very touchy. (Please, no dead fish in my mailbox.)
never heard of it. probably a good thing.
The movie has also been seen as a paen to the cult of Scientology and, on that basis alone, I won’t be watching it even if it’s free.
If you want to see the “R” word flung around faster than John Kerry at a backstabbing, go to Huffington post. That site cracks me up everytime with all the leftists they got. If you post anything degrading or insulting to “The Dear Leader Obama” you will almost always get a reply calling you a racist. I did it the other day commenting on the IRS saying Obama probably was involved, and sure enough I got back a reply: “Careful your racism is showing” LOL!
I walked out on the trailer.
This makes no sense, Smith’s movies are usually very successful....maybe this one just sucks.
Some need to be reminded that this is just a fantasy movie to entertain you,,, and nothing more,,,
Iknew it was going to be a bomb from the beginning of the first trailer:
“We left earth a millenia ago, for the last 1000 years everything on this planet has evolved to kill humans.”
Why would species evilve to kill something that no longer exists on the planet????? Anyone? Hello? Bueller? Bueller?
Fact. Will Smith is the greatest actor. Ever.
Fact. His son is the greatest living actor. Ever.
Fact. Barack Obama is the greatest President. Ever
Fact. Michelle Obama is the most beautiful, graceful, classiest woman in the world. Ever.
Fact. “After Earth” is the greatest movie ever made.
Fact. Anyone that disagrees with the above facts is a racist.
The fact the movie got thoroughly panned by the critics is why nobody wants to see the movie—too bad!
OK, fine:)
The Race Card: it’s the new Joker.
