New York Times editorial board says administration has 'lost all credibility'

The New York Times editorial board, which twice endorsed President Obama and has championed many planks of his agenda, on Thursday turned on the president over the government's mass collection of phone data -- saying the administration has "lost all credibility."

The grey lady's editorial section lately has shown frustration with the administration's civil liberties record. It has criticized the escalation of the lethal drone program, and it lashed out after the Justice Department acknowledged seizing reporters' phone records last month.

The report that the National Security Agency has been collecting phone records from millions of Verizon subscribers appeared to be the last straw.

An editorial published late Thursday said the administration was using the "same platitude" it uses in every case of overreach -- that "terrorists are a real menace and you should just trust us."

"Essentially, the administration is saying that without any individual suspicion of wrongdoing, the government is allowed to know who Americans are calling every time they make a phone call, for how long they talk and from where,"

It is both the conservative talkradio show hosts and Fox News that are standing up to the Obama White House.

Damn.

The NYT saying "you have no credibility" is like Michael Moore saying "you shouldn't eat that donut".

That's for certain - more like a black-hearted wicked witch.

Unfortunately, the NYT is hardly in any position to cast stones regarding credibility.

Barack Obama has been a liar his entire career, going back to the decade long period, when he advertised himself as "born in Kenya" through his publisher to sell books.

Obama and his team cleaned up all the birther stuff when he started to run for President in 2007. Obama lied throughout his campaign in 2007 and 2008. He lied in his inaugaral address. He lied with his stimulus program. He lied promoting ObamaCare. He lied about his political opponents.

One of he first big whoopers, is when he came out of a meeting with the CEO of Caterpillar and lied that he supported Obama's economic plan. The CEO came out and said not true.

Obama's lied in his State of the Union addresses to such an degree that unique events happened twice. Congressman Joe Wilson shouted out "you lie" at one speech and Supreme Court Justice Alito shook his head and said not true.

That the NY Times finally sees that Obama lies is a scandal and not courage. Where have they been the past 6 years of Obama's presence on the national scene. The premier newspaper in America takes 6 years to notice that the big-earred, skinny socialist has no credibility is an open confession of massive failure for the Times.

Nobodies like me, has known that Obama has no credibility and never had any to lose. Pathetic.

Oh,I get it. The NYT is so incredibly uncredible themselves, they know we'll believe the opposite of what they report.

Yes, they apparently amended it within a couple of hours and added “on this issue” - probably got a call from Jarret.

The obama administration never had any credibility to lose. The only individuals that are lower than they are are the sobs than put them in power.

And yet the Times will still (I predict) back him to the last day, albeit with slightly less fervor and criticisms tempered with an “but at least he’s not Romney” attitude.

Last night after a phone call from Luca brasi on the White House Red Phone, the New York Times quietly walked back and added the words “on this issue.” To its condemnation of Obama’s credibility. Presumably the comrade who wrote the original editorial and the comrade who approved it were taken out a back door with black hoods over their heads.

Not only do they record who we called for how long they talk and from where; but they electronically archive every call and they are capable of listening on conversations heard by your cell phone no matter whether it’s turned on or off. Yes, no matter if they are turned on or off. Think about that. They can listen to conversations in a car with the cell phone turned off. They can listen when you are in the bathroom in a gym whether the phone is turned on or off.

Now how often do they do that? I doubt it is often, but they are capable of doing just that.

The cell phone is much worse than “belling a cat”.
