Into his fifth year in office, President Obama knows well attacks from the right. Obamacare, Benghazi, IRS shenanigans, he’s taken his lumps from Republicans and conservative activists. “Impeach him!” many cry. Only occasionally is he whacked from the left (see Guantánamo Bay prison camp).
But these days, it seems like the roles are reversed. Liberals are after Obama, while the likes of Republican political operative Karl Rove are in his corner.
The subject, of course, is government secret surveillance of phone records, a vacuum-cleaner approach whose purpose is heading off terrorist attacks but which pokes into what most people think of as private information.
“Big Data,” we are told, now includes the ability to surreptitiously obtain and store information from e-mail and social media, deriving information about peoples’ habits, friendships, and preferences using data-mining formulas and increasingly powerful computers. And you thought those full-body scanners at the airport left you feeling a bit … naked.

Look at the leaked Verizon FISA warrant. NSA is doing the collecting only because it's been ordered to.
Why are so many media reports getting this wrong? This is just another baseless DOJ warrant signed off by Eric Holder!

Karl Rove, maybe. If there’s a wrong position, he’s pretty sure to take it. But Rove ain’t no conservative.

I would agree. Karl rove appears to be a saboteur of the GOP. There’s no other explanation for his behavior. His favorite book is ‘The Prince’ by Machiavelli, who said keep your friends close and your enemies closer. So that would mean the GOP are his true enemies and the Democrats are his friends.
I’m waiting for the international dust up over this. Should be coming in the next week I’d guess.
This is all great conjecture, but Barack Obama feels no wrath and is not concerned about any of this. You can bank on it.
I don't think that is a fair comparison. Did Bush over-react after 9/11 with the PatroitAct? Yes. That happens at times like that. Congress should have dialed it back as the threat lessened. Now we are 12 years out and they are still expanding their powers under Obama while at the same time Obama’s telling us the war is over.
no actually a poll over there shows that 80% or so of them hate Obama over this.

Even so...it was signed by “ A Judge”..so they followed the law in doing so...the question is Why?....What was happening they determined to issue this?.....These questions need to be answered but likely are Classified.
The left always have stuffed closets full of skeletons, and are afraid their closet doors may fly off their hinges exposing the contents.
Yes, but a Judge did sign it...so they broke no law in their request. And how do we know they weren’t after some group here in the states? There just is too much we don’t know why they sought these....and they will have their story so our guys have to anticipate what they will reveal if anything at all...I;m certain much will be classified no doubt.
I don’t find the “George W. Obama” amuzing at all....Connecting these two is not the way to go.
