Edward Snowden: I mistakenly believed in Obama’s promises
Washington Examiner ^ | Sunday June 9, 2013

Edward Snowden, the self-revealed whistle-blower at the National Security Agency, explains that part of the reason he decided to come forward was because President Obama did not roll back the surveillance measures put into place by the Bush Administration.

“A lot of people in 2008 voted for Obama. I did not vote for him. I voted for a third party,” Snowden said in an i nterview with the Guardian. “But I believed in Obama’s promises. I was going to disclose it [but waited because of his election]. He continued with the policies of his predecessor.”

Snowden acknowledged that he watched Obama struggle as he attempted to justify the surveillance programs during his press conference on Friday.

The NSA spying on ALL Americans while 0bama allows MORE immigrant worker VISAS and more illegals through our porous border.. Solve the former by disallowing the latter.

Oh, and you trust him as well? Have you learned nothing over the last decade? They are all part of the Beltway culture that scorns us Tea Party rubes. This is why the Constitution limited these kind of powers, because they grow on those who usurp them. The Patriot Act was only meant to target foreigners. This goes way beyond that.

1. What are you talking about re: name on the ballot. 2. Where is your proof of any of your assertions? You are arguing mostly from assumptions it seems to me.

He is not a dem or a repub, just an American against tyranny. I pray more will see how corrupt the US has become. This “government” is completely out of control. The people need to take back their capital from the DC sewer.

I pray more follow in his footsteps and speak up against what else the DC sewer has floating in it so to speak.

May this young man's courage inspire others...

I find it hard to believe the NSA would get on its knees for Marxism. This spectacular distraction, in my opinion, is a scandal of half-truths.

"he's probably mentally ill since he supported obamugabe all the way in 2008. he's within that age zone that usually shows up with affective schizophrenic disorder. we still execute guys like that."

OK, this is too far fetched for me to believe it came from you with a straight face. Come clean...

Reeling in another one here ~ yeah, this guy revealed details of a national security program of serious consequences. Yet he's just some contractor puke ~ not someone I voted for, or even saw on the ballot.

I think that's pretty clear.

we take them one at a time. first Snowden. then the others.

Snowdon is not the threat, he is NOT in a position to decree a conservative Tea Party activist like me a terrorist and then run a warrant past the rubber-stamp FISA court (over 1500 requests approved non rejected) to open the database with my name on it.

You know, I actually WOULD have believed that the government wouldn’t use data it acquired illegally or unethically. Until the IRS scandal, of course.

The quickest way to Obama's (legal and Constitutional) removal is finding a link between an IRS employee, their zampolit, and harassment of an individual US citizen.

If I were in charge of the GOP, I would not have any more farcical hearings on Benghazi. I would hire a career prosecutor and work my way up the IRS chain of command. Somebody in there knows what happened and whodunit.

I think that's pretty clear.

Then support it with facts so it's clear to everyone.

He is young. He is a product of bad education. He is like ever other young government contractor system administrator in the under 40. They are all liberal. Their are exceptions. Many are liberal because of their wives. I see it everyday.

Actually the article in the Guardian says he does not

his level.

These personal data base things are over-rated. Anyone who worked in government in a 'confidential' position had a dossier. Folks with additional security clearances even underwent regular lie detector tests, and intense interrogations.

None of that stuff ever caught 90% of the government's spies and bad guys.

It's not likely they'll catch the ones who don't work for the government either.

Not that we shouldn't use modern technology to spy on foreigners ~ at home or abroad ~ but there's not as much gained from it, or can be gained from it, as most folks believe.

One decent short discussion at a bus stop can yield far more information ~

Do you really want to take the side of a traitor and a spy? Seriously ~ think of what you’re doing to this website.
