COLLEGE STATION, Texas A socks celebration has been planned in Texas for the 89th birthday of former President George H.W. Bush of Houston.
Visitors to Bush's presidential library in College Station are urged to wear "exuberant socks" Wednesday on his birthday. Bush in recent years has taken to wearing colorful socks in public.
Officials with the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation also want people with outlandish socks to post photos online. Select pictures will be sent to the 41st president.

You know what I thought of reading this? I thought that Obama wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of socks like this. Way too concerned with his image. On the other hand, I bet Clinton will have the most outlandish pair of socks sent to all the papers to grab his extra minute of attention.
I read an article a while ago, where a conservative said a well known lib who knew the presidents intimately, said that George Bush 43 was an intensely deep individual. That most people didn't realize what a deep thinker he was. I guess he gets it from his dad. The fun part of that article was that he also said Obama was totally shallow, a total narcissist and there was nothing to him.
I miss that fur ball. Thank you for posting a picture of him, you made my day.
If Osama Obama reaches his 89th birthday..having somehow avoided an early death from untreated syphilis...his party will feature male strippers, same sex military "couples" fornicating on stage and numerous reading from the Book of Saint Saul Alinsky.
I remember that very well!
Bush agreed to a tax increase when the Democrat promised to cut spending.
They passed the tax increase and promptly broke the promise!
It’s a nice museum - I dropped by for a couple of hours in 2008. I wouldn’t want to be there this week for all the bushite hypocrisy on display.
READ MY LIPS “OUT DA BUSHS!”
The library is in Texas? It oughta be in Connecticut or, better yet, in his real home D.C.. The mistification continues.
The best sock aficionado is RGIII
No, thanks. I have no interest in glorifying him or his son. At least Sr. managed the fall of Communism (caused by R Reagan, not him) well; his son GW did somethin’ close to nothin’ positive in my view - two needless wars (check on the number of Christians left in Iraq or the “tolerance’ of the thieving, deceitful “government” we installed in Afghanistan, which is good solely by comparison to the Taliban); the crazy schools policy; disastrous appointments, I could go on. No, I won’t fall for this, “weren’t they great in retrospect” business. No way.
The correct response to that from now on is “OK Cut spending first”
And, where is Reagan’s library? Illinois?
Sad to think he only existed because Bill had to cover up comments he made to his security guard about where he was going.
Reagan lived in California, while Bush Sr rented an empty condo in Houston, as I remember.
Bush Sr. lived in Midland Texas for a number of years and was a Congressman from Texas.
Obvious and well known. Bush Sr lived in D.C. probably longer than anywhere else. Grew up where? Dad was from Connecticut, yes? My current Congresscritter grew up here, indeed, and then spent years in D.C. as an aide to my previous Congresscritter. Carpetbaggers all of them!
The Bush’s moved to Texas in 1948. He was 24 years old. Went to congress in 1967. That is nearly 20 years right there. Certainly long enough to be a certified Texan.
He was my favorite member of that administration
I actually wrote to him and got back a pantographed letter.
Off topic but I wonder why we never see Boo in the press? You always saw Barney and Millie Bush with their humans.
