AT&T to Load iPhones With Emergency Alerts From Obama – That You Can’t Switch Off
Gateway Pundit ^ | June 16, 2013 | Jim Hoft

Just in case you want more Obama in your life… AT&T is loading iPhones with emergency alerts from Barack Obama… That you can’t switch off.

AT&T has begun rolling out Wireless Emergency Alerts updates for iPhone 4S and 5, so you won’t be the last folks to know if the entire northern hemisphere is about to be covered in ice à la Day After Tomorrow.

You’ll receive a notification from the carrier when your update is ready, but only if you’re using iOS 6.1 or higher.

Once installed, AMBER and Emergency alerts are automatically sent to your phone unless you switch them off via Settings. However, should you be tired of Obama, just know that there’s no way to switch off Presidential alerts.

So now Barack can track your calls and send you messages, too.

"meetings" where people do not listen since they are addicted to their crack berries.

AHA! So that's why obama doesn't know anything about what his government is doing!

I have an AT&T cell phone but it’s not an iPhone. Does that mean Obama can’t send me messages - I hope.

It’s getting to where you can’t switch him off your tv either with his mug on 24/7. Cutting the cord is the only way.

Good idea. Just don’t buy an iphone. We still have our trusty old cellphones. Mine won’t even take a photo. :-)

Just like NoKo’s Dear Leader with statues or gigantic posters on every street corner, you can’t avoid the preezy. He’s everywhere.

26 Wasn't the AT&T CEO a big sponsor of the Scouts homo vote? ...

Indeed. Randall Stephenson. AT&T has scored a 100% perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index for 7 straight years since 2004.

It reminds me a little of the “Amber Alerts” that come through our Comcast cable TV. They have been used repeatedly for kids in custody disputes living hundreds of miles away. Our city also has an automated phone system that woke up 500,000 people at 3:00 a.m. in the morning when a police officers daughter spent the night at a friend’s house.

“What would make people think he cannot also send you a message.”

I just posted I have an AT&T phone but it's not an iPhone. The other thing, is, I hate ALL phones. When one rings, it takes up my time. I got an unlisted number for my house phone to stop sales calls.

I don't like having to have a cell phone, either. I only use it to make long distance calls and I don't call anyone unless it's business and I have to. Most of the time, my cell battery is dead because I don't use it very often.

Even if Obama could reach my regular, not iPhone, cell, the battery would be dead and I wouldn't know he sent anything until I charged the phone again which could be months later.

I'm picking up my son at the airport later today, and charged the cell so he could get in touch with me when he lands at the airport. It hasn't been charged in a month, the last time he came to the airport.

I have an ancient flip phone that I use as a telephone. No camera, no browsers, no keypad. People know that if they text me I won’t text back but I may call them.

People who use smart phones seem to get addicted to them. I see them sitting around and all their attention is directed at that little device. They don’t interact with other humans in their vicinity. Sad. Those things just make the feral goobermint’s surveillance programs easier.

My dumb phone keeps my life simple and I like it that way.

Seven years ago Congress decided that, if there is a national emergency, then all cell phone users should be notified. You know, things like Australia dropping an atomic bomb on Des Moines, Iowa, or the New Madrid fault causing another 8.0 earthquake in Missouri. These national alerts, for some reason, were called “Presidential alerts”. They probably should have been called National Alerts, but they weren’t.

Virtually all cell phones will carry these alerts and you cannot turn them off.

This news story is just pointing out that AT&T is rolling out the service at this point in time to their iPhone users.

If you don’t like this law, contact your congressman.

Unless you’re into all the bells and whistles a cheap TrakPhone from Walmart does everything it should. You talk on it and that’s that. No app’s to fiddle with. Simple communications.

"OR just remove your battery?"

That might work for now, but eventually perhaps much sooner than latter, there may be a fine and or imprisonment for removing batteries.

Removing the battery will instantaneously notify gov't battery inspectors, who will be dispatched to check why there was a disconnection...jobs donchano!
