While much of the global political establishment and the major world media prepare to declare Nelson Mandela a saint, massive evidence continues to pile up showing Mandela and the African National Congress (ANC) are communists and terrorists.

Egypt is smarter than the US, and Mandela outsmarted South Africa. Wouldn’t it be neat if America got smart like Egypt... and threw the pretender out, just like Egypt did..... but then, South Africa wasn’t smart enough to get rid of their “pretender” either.... they glorified him, as America is doing!
If America was smart, there would be protests in the streets, until the Big O resigned. I know its askin a lot... but it IS overdue. How much more can we put up with?

America won’t get it until the economy is dead and people are hungry, and cable goes out.

He didn’t stay on Robbins Island for 24 years because he was a nice guy.

Oh, it’s this whole laughable conceit about “moral authority”-—hard-line Communist or not, 24 years in prison
will generally give a person a little moral authority, as all the gory details of who he actually was and what he actually did helpfully evaporate in thin air, leaving only the glow the world media wants to see....fast forward to our own time, 6 years ago, and consider Obama and how you now need NOTHING to be granted moral authority, get a Nobel Peace Prize, and go on a forced bad date with a country of over 300 million people for 4 and now 5 years, and consider just how long it takes for the disenchantment to set in and the personal reckoning of a foolish choice made by the slight majority that voted for him twice.

Forgot murderer or is that folded into the word “terrorist” to be inclusive. I’m thinking of the bombing of that white night club killing 23 men and women.

Hey, only the likes of Thatcher and Reagan can be called divisive and controversial on their deaths../sarc

Remember Robert”kkk”Byrd past was sanitized and excused away same thing will happen with Mandela and even his ex-wife.

Mandela is as much a hero as Che Guevara.

Honestly I didn't until the Cheney/Lieberman debate. (Or was it Edwards, I forget.)

The "narrator" asked about South Africa and WHY did Reagan not just instinctively support anti-Apartheid efforts.

Cheney of course knew everything about the ANC and brought up the burning tire "necklacing" and communism.

Both the narrator and Cheney's opponent were speechless, since they didn't know jack squat about who and what Mandela stood for.

Here's how it will go down: Mandela will die, and either Obama hisself will go to the funeral or send Biden.

The world will mourn.

And there will be much politically correct gnashing of teeth.

There shall be no mention of communism, Winnie and her high flying ways, nor the fact that South Africa went from a prosperous nation to a hell hole in about 3 years after EEEEVIL white people turned over power to Mandelathugs.(TM) BTW, How's South Africa doing these days? Racial harmony, prosperity for all, no racism.

Gotta be a fricking paradise on earth, right?

A friend of mine, who gets all her news from the NYT, thinks mandela is “a wonderful man”. I told her in no uncertain terms and in a loud voice with a few expletives exactly what he was. I told her about necklaceing She had no idea about that.

nah, that story is covered up.

I was watching the British version of “The Office” when the boss brought that up, and almost fell out of my seat laughing. Guess their comedies are allowed to mock the liberal saints.

On the other hand, Mandela and DeKlerk managed to get a peaceful transition in South Africa, which was a bit of a miracle, so they both deserve credit for this.

Alas, wait a year or two: The election of the rapist Zuma bodes ill for that country.

He didn’t stay on Robbins Island for 24 years because he was a nice guy.

What happened at Sharpeville wasn't nice either, and did much to turn Mandela away from non-violence.

He could have said to those who imprisoned him, "You made me this way," and left it at that, but he did much to remake himself yet again, this time turning away from the ideas of his more radical and violent associates.

You really can’t go very far “remaking” yourself without reference to God.

Tutu may have been a help here, to be fair.
