The number of Americans receiving subsidized food assistance from the federal government has risen to 101 million, representing roughly a third of the U.S. population.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that a total of 101,000,000 people currently participate in at least one of the 15 food programs offered by the agency, at a cost of $114 billion in fiscal year 2012.
That means the number of Americans receiving food assistance has surpassed the number of full-time private sector workers in the U.S.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there were 97,180,000 full-time private sector workers in 2012.
The population of the U.S. is 316.2 million people, meaning nearly a third of Americans receive food aid from the government.

The main reason for Food prices to be so high!
Food producers know the Govt buys it so why not get maximum price.
The ones without EBT are the ones who suffer supplementing EBT not only in taxes but high prices.
And some (many) of those families sell their food/food stamps and spend our hard-earned tax-money on alcohol, drugs, gambling and God only knows what other unsavory activities.
None of us have a problem with feeding hungry children. But we do not want to feed able-bodied lazy bums who laugh at us behind our backs.
Just think how much this number will climb once we add 30-50 million more uneducated immigrants from the third world.
“Hope and change.” On schedule and under budget. And, when immigration “reform” comes through, don’t get caught standing flatfooted anywhere along the border, lest you get trampled in the stampede.
CHANGE!
how’s it working out for you?
need more gov’t cheese?
“The number of Americans receiving food assistance has surpassed the number of full-time private sector workers in the U.S.”
We’ve reached the tipping point.

When the Takers outnumber the Makers... it’s over.
It is now officially over.
the chicken image confuses me.
Fair warnng: I may well be one that takes advantage of every senior program that is available. In about 4 years....
Caveat: Due to some troubling health concerns, I likely will fall well short of the current average male life expectency of 84. I’m comfortable now, but that will likely change drastically under a couple of years of 0bama/Robertscare.
I ain’t proud of that, by the way....
WRT the beauty shop, IIRC, EBT cash is alimony and child support paid by an ex-husband or illegitimate father.
Food stamps, again IIRC, would be “EBT food.”
Stop it all or the walls will crash down. We can no longer afford to live wildly beyond our means. We can never pay what we owe now and every day prolongs the suffering we all face down the road... a very short road these days.

Great graphics. Awful hard on the temper, though.
All this abuse needs to stop, now. Ever seen the lines at the food banks?,
