The chief judge of Americas most powerful secret court is a 64-year-old man who has said his path toward the law began in part when he was stopped by police in the early 1960s simply for being black, and who once said he became a lawyer to make an impact on the quality of life for people of color in this country.
Reggie Walton is the presiding judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, whose 11 members are appointed directly by the chief justice of the Supreme Court. Revelations of broad spying by the National Security Agency have drawn unusual attention to the Court, which The New York Times reported Sunday has created a secret body of law giving the National Security Agency the power to amass vast collections of data.

My comment was specifically about his judicial behavior in FISA. At this point we don’t have enough information to make that type of charge one way or the other. We may never have access to that type of information.
Do you have any evidence that he views his job this way, or acts in this manner?

Something I’ve always wondered abou “FISA Courts”. Are they really courts? Are there opposing parties appearing before them? Is there due process? Do they act as an ombudsman, without opposing views? Hmmmm.

Posting this article will perhaps prompt a good discussion about FISA.
I was going to say something about this clown being a rubber stamp for whatever the government wants, but that’s also true of most judges who will sign whatever the cops put in front of them. Otherwise we wouldn’t have something like 40,000 judge approved military style raids every year.

You have to throw SCOTUS a bone and make them feel involved in the tyrant’s scheme in order to keep any legal challenges to the activities at bay....
Good question, but the violation of the 6th [open courts] means that the charge cannot be disproved -- part of the reasoning about requiring courts to operate openly was so that this situation would never happen.
