Media speculation as well as internet buzz are openly querying if Trayvon Martin's purchase of Skittles and Arizona Watermelon Fruit Cocktail Juice on the night he died were just to satisfy a young man's sweet tooth or were they two of the three ingredients in a dangerous codeine-based concoction, as reported by the pop culture news portal RashManly.com on July 12, 2013.
Martin has been portrayed by his supporters as an innocent youth armed with nothing more than a bag of Skittles candy and a can of Arizona Iced Tea on the night he was killed by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman..
During the course of the trial, State Prosecutor John Guy made it official when he identified to the jury Martin's personal possessions found on his body by police, to include an "unopened bag of Skittles" as well as a "full can of watermelon-flavored drink," as reported by Central Florida News 13 on June 25, 2013.

Plenty of kids do but it tastes awful. I have trouble just taking a dose of the nasty stuff.
This is the first time I have read anything in-depth on this. It would seem that there would be headlines or time devoted to the concoction especially if this was part of his social media. A child. . .going to get skittles and a drink. Parents should be made aware if their so called children are partaking!
Besides. . .when I get the urge for my favorite candy and drinks, I certainly don’t wait to get home and open them up!
Because ‘Lean’ is what happens to a person’s balance after consuming this mixture.
Videotape at the 7-11 shows Trayvon Martin wasn’t coordinated in his movements and kept leaning while paying for his candy and watermelon drink.
The problem with ‘Lean’ or ‘Purple Lean’ (also called ‘Purple Drank’) is that it affects the brain, resulting in violent behavior. Shrinks refer to is as a “psychic break”.
Trayvon had a 5-yard walk to where he was staying. Instead, he circled around and attacked George Zimmerman, sucker punching him in the face. Then he straddle the recumbent, smaller victim, and punched him repeatedly in the face while saying. “I’m going to kill you!”.
Does that sound like a rational, sober teenager to you?

Same here, I have swallowed a full dose cup (about 30 ml) of DM to get to sleep when nothing else works and it always makes me a little nauseous, but then fall asleep. Definitely nothing euphoric for me. I’m sure the kids take far more than that.

I thought I first read somewhere that this stuff was called "Purple Dank". It should be because Purple Dank sounds a lot more menacing and that's what that demography usually wants.
Although called a tea in nearly every report I’ve read or heard, the Arizona Watermelon drink is a fruit juice cocktail. Sprite is apparently the original beverage used but it’s not a required one.
So the nation traded smoking cigarettes and a little bit of beer for this stuff? Incredible.

Yes, it is true. It is known as Purple Drank or Lean and several other names as well. The Watermelon drink is to make the flavor palatable.
So the schools are complicit in handing out two of the ingredients! !!???!!!

Why didn’t the Defense bring that out in testimony to demonstrate to the media and jury that GZ was not racist in any way? (rhetorical) Just having a couple of the parents of the black youths mentored by GZ testify might have really offset the Prosecutors’ contention that GZ was racist.
