Holder: "Stand Your Ground" allows, encourages escalating violence

Laws like "Stand Your Ground" undermine innocent Americans' safety "by allowing - and perhaps encouraging - violent situations to escalate in public," Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday afternoon, three days after George Zimmerman's acquittal in the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager spurred civil rights protests across the United States.

Delivering remarks to the NAACP's annual conference in Orlando - 30-something miles from where Zimmerman, claiming "self-defense," fatally shot Trayvon Martin - Holder acknowledged that "as passionate civil rights leaders, as engaged citizens and, most of all, as parents," his audience members remained "deeply - and rightly - concerned about this case." Calling the teen's death "tragic and unnecessary," he stressed that his department will consider "all available information" in determining whether to pursue federal criminal charges against Zimmerman.

The State Run Media already had their Talking Points from the DNC BEFORE Holder read them.

Gun Control, still, is their number one target to un-arm the un-ruly Constitution-loving Americans. Da Hood and the Illegals, not so much......

Escalating violence justifies “Stand your Ground” laws.

Escalating violence justifies Neighborhood Watch organizations.

Escalating violence justifies carrying a piece when you are outside your home.

Holder just gave the game away. You notice that “Stand your Ground” had nothing to do with this case, but O’s minions keep bringing it up over and over and over. They are using this poor kid to beat a political drum. No one, except probably us, cares that yet another kid was killed by thug culture.

Laws like "Stand Your Ground" allows us, the law abiding public, to defend ourselves against feral black youths who try to attack us.

Actually, when you think about it, GZ stopped the escalation of a violent situation.

God forbid, folks should defend themselves. Street thugs prefer their victims be unarmed.

"Encourages violence". What a maroon!!

Stand Your Ground only means defending yourself against violence that is directed at you. I guess that is just too much to comprehend for our "esteemed AG".....

“One bleeding-heart type asked me in a recent interview if I did not agree that ‘violence begets violence.’ I told him that it is my earnest endeavor to see that it does. I would like very much to ensure — and in some cases I have — that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy.”

More distracting nonsense from a liberal attorney and activist. Attorney General he may be, for the moment, but legislator he is NOT.

The stats, evidence and logic point to the direct opposite conclusion. He knows it, but his purpose is cryptic, or plain dishonest, many believe purely for the purpose of distracting everyone from issues requiring critical thinking skills.

This lecture is designed to run out the news cycle clock and, like so much that comes down from this administration's Delphic Oracle, attacks critical thinking itself, doubling and perhaps tripling (or much more) it's power to distract.

Americans at the time of the Founding would have stood their ground against the likes of Eric the Red. That man personifies racism, totalitarianism and corruption. Eric Holder is despicable.

OMG, defending yourself might lead to more violence. Damn that Constitution! /s

Here’s an idea for the left wing morons - stop the crime and I won’t have to defend myself.

Oh, wait, I forget the left’s response (most of my family are left wing moonbats): don’t go there; don’t visit that area; don’t use those roads!

Stand your ground laws really do not give any one the right to self protection that he has always had.

The idea that one can zap the UPS man on the front porch just because he has been told to leave the package at the gate is nonsense, as stupid as my example.

What stand your ground laws really do is put restrictions on over zealous overly ambitious do anything for publicity prosecutors.

In other words, the stand your ground law’s purpose is to protect the person who has to defend himself.

A person defending himself still must be able to show that he feared for his life and had to resort to force to save his own life or the life of others.
