Gay Couple to Sue Church of England to Force It to Perform Gay Weddings (Coming soon to America?)
Pajamas Media ^ | 08/02/2013 | Bryan Preston

Coming soon to an American court room near you.

Wealthy gay dad, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, says he and his civil partner Tony will go to court to force churches to host gay weddings.

He told the Essex Chronicle that he will take legal action because “I am still not getting what I want”.

A Government Bill legalising gay marriage passed Parliament recently but it included measures to protect churches from being forced to perform same-sex weddings.

Mr Drewitt-Barlow said: “The only way forward for us now is to make a challenge in the courts against the church.

“It is a shame that we are forced to take Christians into a court to get them to recognise us.”

He added: “It upsets me because I want it so much – a big lavish ceremony, the whole works, I just don’t think it is going to happen straight away.

“As much as people are saying this is a good thing I am still not getting what I want.”

Notice the phrase that he uses — “I am still not getting what I want.”

So I’ll force the whole world to bend to my will. In the name of tolerance.

The only things standing in his way are tradition and faith, and our culture doesn’t have any respect for either anymore.

“I am still not getting what I want”.

Holy crap on a cracker... how old is this man? Is he 12?

Has the west seriously degraded to the point of catering to crybabies? We capitulate to temper tantrums now?

Yes, we have devolved to the point where we are giving in to crybabies. He doesn’t just want his homosexual marriage, he wants his homosexual marriage in a church. And he wants the church to bless and support his union. So he and homosexual activists will push to get their way.

Yes, this is coming to America soon too.

the church should sanction and perform the marriage.

The opening statement by the Priest/Pastor should be “The church is illegally forced to perform this UNHOLY union.”

The Priest/Pastor should then say “This unholy union is blessed by Government and condemned by God.”

Wrapping it up, “I unwillingly pronounce you Man and Man in damnation.”

It’s hard to believe that homosexuality was once considered a mental condition according to psychiatrists.

I’m not qualified to say if homosexuality is some sort of mental condition. However, it’s interesting to see how society has gone in the last 40 years, from considering it a mental condition to a status which we now celebrate and honor.

There is nothing gay about the homosexuals. They all seem to be very angry.

May the Lord strike him down for his arrogance. A true Sodomite.

RE: the church should sanction and perform the marriage.

I can’t see how they can stop this now.

The Queen, the titular head of the Church of England, just gave her approval to the new law that the supposed “conservative” David Cameron backed, legalizing gay marriage.

Next stop — a lawsuit FORCING all other non-Anglican churches to marry gays.

The only group they won’t touch would be the Muslims.

Sue away idiots.

I can NOT be compelled to perform a service.

I will NOT accept contrary court orders or comply with fines or penalties.

By that rationale, we should be more accepting of mental disease and eventual laud and vaunt it to the point of being sought after?

My Lord, what is this world coming to?

it would still be an unholy ceremony conducted in a holy place...bet we’ll see churches STOP doing weddings in any kind of public venue, and only by covert arrangements will any conservative minister or priest consent to bless a union between a man and a woman, and it will have to be conducted in a place removed from the church property or the priest’s/minister’s office and residence. Kinda like in the early days of the church when Christians used the fish symbol to indicate their secret meeting places and met in the catacombs under Rome. Or, recall the secret marriage of William Wallace in “Braveheart” where he married his sweet young bride in the forest at night with only a priest. Yep, blessed marriages between man & wife will have to go underground.

Anyone who believed it was a fool or lying to himself. However, I think it's more likely that anyone who claimed to believe it was lying to us.

“I am still not getting what I want”.

Yeah, and neither did Jerry Sandusky. The next stop on this runaway freight train is their right to bugger little boys.

I'm beginning to understand why Russia is cracking down on them big time. We will eventually have to do the same if we want to protect our children.

The "partners" have already purchased children.

A lot of churches only perform wedding ceremonies for members of that congregation and require that the couple attend classes/counseling. They can simply set this standard and tighten up the requirements for membership. This would have the positive effect of eliminating SSM as well as secular heterosexual couples that just want the church ceremony but don’t really have much use for a church otherwise.

“He doesn’t just want his homosexual marriage, he wants his homosexual marriage in a church.”

He doesn’t just want his homosexual marriage in a church. I’m fairly certain that he could have a homosexual marriage in a church somewhere in England. What he really wants is to force a church that does not perform homosexual marriages to perform his homosexual marriage in a church.
