And those idiots in both parties have not seen agitation, corruption and utter meanness when La Raza becomes so large. The Dem party will be overrun with people who believe that bribery is a family value.
Perhaps Tancredo misremembered what he was told. But I have accurately reported the quote that was in the article. I report, you decide.
In any event, I don't think it materially changes the main issue (and well known fact) that Mexico actively encourages its citizens to illegally move to the US.
It’s closer to 30 million, and through chain migration will swell to something like 90 million. Overwhelmingly big government-voting and low-skill into their third or fourth generation here, at least—if not always.
Yes, that’s why I said ‘small side note.’ Off topic, if you will.
(Seriously, though: If Tancredo ‘misremembered what he was told’ (as you suggest) his ‘does this make sense?’ skills must be close to zero. A country with 110+ mln population and abundent natural resources (oil!) has a GDP of only $30 bln? Knock, knock, hello McFly? That improbability just *has* to be obvious to anyone with any (economic) sense at all. (Which is why I looked up the figures back then in the first place - it just jumps out at you as wholly unrealistic. Like Gore claiming millions of degrees for the earth’s center; ‘Guam tipping over’, etc. etc. - politicians making idiotic statements)) No offense to you.
OK, carry on with the thread then.
You either DEPORT illegals or its AMNESTY
If you deport them...no one is gonna put them in camps.
on buses, and send them back home? I dont think anyones proposing that.

absolutely.
we already have a legal work status, called a GREEN CARD.
Enforce our current laws.
“What about the teenagers who were brought here illegally as very young kids? We pull them out of...schools... and send them back to the place they’ve never known as home, right?”
Yes.
One of the biggest issues with the program was the deportation of Mexicans to unfamiliar places, where they would struggle to find their way home or support their families."
Gosh. You mean that when foreign nationals broke our laws then things happened to them that they didn't like?
Good. It's way past time to do it again, on a much larger scale so that we can get California back.
“What about the teenagers who were taken here illegally as very young kids? We pull them out of the schools theyve been attending and send them back to the place theyve never known as home, right?”
They will have to ask their lawbreaker parents why they chose to put them into such a precarious position.
Hardships happen all the time to innocent kids whose parents break the law.
Do you get all weepy-eyed over American kids whose lawbreaking parents wreck their lives?
Or do you only care about kids whose parents are foreign nationals breaking American law?
At the beginning of this discussion it should be made clear that we have to put Americans first then we can come up with real practical solutions. The basic idea should be to make it difficult for them to earn a living or get welfare, then many will self deport. People who came here illegally when they were children should be told that they have to go to a immigration lawyer and they have to pay for it with their own money.
Also, no more of this crying because we are “splitting up families”. What a crock! Every immigrant splits from his family to come to America, not just illegal immigrants. We have to get the message out that they are no better than the real immigrants and they will have to part with their family members. It is painful to part with your family and neighbors and leave for a totally new country but millions of people, including my family had to do this. Illegals from Mexico and Central America are more fortunate than immigrants from the eastern hemisphere since they can simply drive down to Mexico during vacation season.
