Rand Paul Defends Principle of Immigration Amnesty: "Do They Want Them in Concentration Camps?"
Reason ^ | 07/01/2013 | Brian Doherty

Rand Paul talks some sense that all his fellow Republicans should face on the bugaboo of "amnesty" for those lawbreaking illegal immigrants already in the United States, reported via Mediaite:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) may have voted against the Senate’s “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill last week, but he seemingly does not count himself among the conservative critics of the bill who oppose any and all forms of “amnesty” for illegal immigrants currently living inside the United States.

In an interview with WNDtv, Sen. Paul took on the critics of so-called “amnesty” who oppose efforts to “normalize” illegal immigrants and absorb them into the United States. “Let’s get them work visas, let’s normalize them, let’s make them taxpayers,” he said of the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently residing within the states.

“They’re not going home,” Paul said, adding that even the most vocal opponents of so-called “amnesty” seem to recognize this fact. “Are they for sending these people home? Do they want us to put them in concentration camps, on buses, and send them back home? I don’t think anyone’s proposing that.”

Mike Riggs earlier today had a great roundup of the liberty issues implicated in this round of "immigration reform."

Concentration camps? Not at all.

Put their butts on a bus and send them home?

Damn straight.

Shoot anyone caught illegally transiting our border. Either the border is respected, or it is not. I wonder how the brave men of the Alamo would feel about our current day immigration policy.

Let’s face it. If our current immigration laws get no respect from the illegals, what makes these Einsteins think that any more new laws will be respected by the same bunch?

It is amazing the idiocy that is masquerading as informed thought on this subject.

RE: We owe them NOTHING, other than reasonable care that they don’t starve or die of exposure in custody.

Post #74 above seems to have a different take...

‘This is a fact?’

It is a fact to the privileged class that inhabits the DC cocktail party environs.

I don't think these people are lazy, or are afraid of doing the mental work of considering weighty issues such as this, they are just out of touch with the reality of life in America today.

If this bill passes, Aztlan will be a reality within 20 years.

I made a sign for the overpass that reads: TAKE BACK YOUR COUNTRY!
DEPORT THEM!
Does that mean he disagrees with me?

Yes, they are going home if we make them. We’re supposed to be held hostage by invaders who break into our country and then say, “We’re not going home”? I don’t think so. They don’t get to say what they are or are not doing, any more than any other criminal gets to call the shots. All we need is the will to make them go home, as soon as we get over our terror of being called a name.

I want to send them back, yes. And charge it against our debt to that country.

What about the teenagers who were taken here illegally as very young kids? We pull them out of the schools they’ve been attending and send them back to the place they’ve never known as home, right?

Sure. Why not? Why is it considered such cruel torture to send kids back to the nations of their parents? They probably have relatives there and have visited there while growing up. For however long the kids have lived in the US, they've gotten a free education at the expense of the US taxpayer. They still owe us a "thank you." Any suffering they go through as a result of being sent back is due to their parents, not us. If their parents had robbed a bank, for instance, the kids would suffer because their parents would be in jail. Yet we don't hesitate to incarcerate bank robbers who have kids.

Who are “they” of whom you speak, Senator Paul? The people who worked to get you elected perhaps? Keep poking them with Juan McCain’s twisted stick and you might find “they” aren’t there for you during your 2016 re-election campaign. Then you can retire and lay on a beach somewhere sharing Taco Bell takeout with Marco Rubio.

"’It serves Mexico's needs,’ he said, and ticked off a list of such things as remittances to Mexico of $10 billion a year, which is 30 percent of the Mexican GDP [gross domestic product].

Just as a small side note (since I've seen this posted before and even then it didn't sound quite right so I looked it up...):

Even back in 2003 Mexico's GDP was around $700 bln, currently close to $1200 bln. That '30% of GDP' claim was just silly.

OK, carry on then...

No you moron. We want them out. Deny them any sort of benefit and they’ll leave voluntarily.

And charge them for schools, hospital visits, 911 calls, police visits, etc.

Unfortunately, he is right. Tey aren’t going home. But we can stop more from coming here illegally and THAT should be the FIRST priority.

Read “What to Expect When Nobody is Expecting”. The birth rate in the US and the west has dropped to the point where the population curve has shifted towards those at the higher end of the age spectrum with not enough people working and paying into the support system for retirees. Naturalizing people gradually after “Americanization” is an answer to this problem from the SHORT term perspective.

LONG TERM, even in “third world” countries the brith rate is dropping - with the SINGLE SINISTER EXCEPTION OF MUSLIMS.

And when “third worlders” emigrate into the west, again, with the single sinster exception of MUSLIMS, they gradually drop their birth rate as they fall into the same kind of materialism as we all suffer from.

Prosecute the damned employers, cut off all welfare and food stamps and free health care and every other perk of breaking our laws and they will leave. Make them unwelcome in our home and they will self deport. If that fails then we start using the laws and methods that the mexican government uses against anyone violating their immigration laws.

"Do They Want Them in Concentration Camps?"

What a moron.
If illegal aliens could be rounded up for concentration camps, then they could be rounded up and thrown out.

“They’re not going home,”

If they have no legal papers to work, and illegal work is increasingly cut off to them, WHY WOULD THEY NOT go home?

The fact is they do, when “living in the shadows” exhausts economic viability to do so, and they would increasingly “self deport” if more was done to encourage that.

The “frog march back across the border” & “concentration camp” arguments are straw man arguments, not arguments anyone is making and NOT the natural consequences of increasing enforcement of laws on the books now. The main consequence will be self-deportation.

Call Senstor Paul and tell him not to accrpt such irrational thinking.

From the border I can tell you that e-verify with teeth will encourage self deportation of the most recent Mexican illegals MOST OF WHO HAVE A HOME LEFT DOWN THERE to go back to and a thriving economy.

To retain them is to empower the Dems and destroy this nation
