FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ ON PRAYER ~ 04 August 2013
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

ON PRAYER

The Sacred Scriptures urge us to pray always. That seems impossible at first sight; you can't spend your life on your knees. But people pray in many ways. Physical positions and movements, the lotus position for Buddhists, kneeling and folding hands for many Christian faith groups, are prayer. Any attention paid to God is prayer.

Whether or not any words are spoken, the actions themselves express awareness of, and communication with, God. As St. Teresa of Avila put it, way back in the 16th century, "For though we are always in the presence of God, it seems to me that those who practice prayer are especially so, because they can see all the time that God is looking at them; whereas others may be in the Lord's presence for several days without ever remembering that God can see them."

"Riamh nár dhruid ó sbairn lann!"

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.

O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is loving kindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Psalm 130:7 & 8

Coming In On a Wing and a Prayer

Circa 1943
Lyric by Harold Adamson, Music by Jimmy McHugh

Comin In On A WING and a PRAYER
One of our planes was miss-ing, two ho-ours o-ver due.
One of our planes was miss-ing, with all its gal-lant crew.
The ra-di-o sets were hum-ming, they wait-ed for a word;
Then a voice broke thru the hum-ming and this is what they heard:

Chorus
“Com-in’ In On A Wing And A Pray’r_______
Com-in’ In On A Wing And A Pray’r_______
Tho’ there’s one mo-tor gone, we can still car-ry on,
Com-in’ In On A Wing And A Pray’r_______

What a show_____ what a fight______
Yes, we real-ly hit our tar-get for to - night!
How we sing as we limp thru the air______
Look be - low, there’s our field o-ver there____

With our full crew a- board and our trust in the Lord
we’re Com-in’ In On A Wing And A Pray’r_______

School starts in the middle of August, so i have two more “lean weeks” to go before I am once again fully employed.

Lynn-dah’s x-rays were inconclusive, but I have been reading about the flea and tick medicines and how they can affect the liver!

I covered her with all-natural diatomaceous Earth today, as this is known to be a good, harmless remedy.

I have ordered a big bag of borax to treat the rugs.

I am so upset that using a legal product in the prescribed manner may have caused my baby harm.

And it didn’t even kill the ticks.

If it weren’t for the Internet, I wouldn’t have even KNOWN about DE or Borax.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Take Time To Ponder

August 4, 2013

Parents love to remember the developmental milestones of their children. They will record in a baby book when their little ones first roll over, then crawl, and take their first steps. Often they will take photographs and save baby clothing to bring back the memories of those precious experiences.

According to Luke 2:19, Mary, the mother of Jesus, kept a baby book of sorts—in her heart. She treasured the promises that had been given about her Son and “pondered them.” The Greek word for “ponder” means “placing together for comparison.” Mary had heard of great things concerning her Son from angels and shepherds (1:32; 2:17-18). As His life unfolded, she would compare those promises with how her Son acted to fulfill them.

Our faith will be strengthened and we will be encouraged when we meditate on what the Scriptures say about God and compare it with the way He works in our own lives (John 14:21). He is a God who answers prayer (1 John 5:14-15), comforts us in our suffering (2 Cor. 1:3-4), and provides for our needs (Phil. 4:19).

When we take time to ponder, we will see the faithfulness of our great God.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow—
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! —Chisholm
God gives by promise that we may take by faith.
