So the Redskins are targeted because they have an offensive nickname but an ordinary, acceptable image of an American Indian on their logo.

The Cleveland Indians, meanwhile, have an inoffensive nickname but are targeted because they use a silly caricature of an American Indian for their logo.

Glad to see the crack-pots at Slate, shoot themselves in the foot. Their decision to make their material less communicative, by refusing to use the words that actually describe their subject, will not hurt those whom the seek to disparage.

But then, doesn't this sort of thing nicely demonstrate my point that egalitarian collectivists (communist & socialist advocacy groups) are primarily compulsion, not reason, driven? (See Compassion Or Compulsion?)

I have a lot of trouble keeping up with the PC rules.

For example, why is it that “people of color” is politically correct but “colored people” is not (unless you are the NAACP in which case it is still ok)?

Today it’s team names. Tomorrow it’ll be something else. The people who do this complaining really hate everything about Western Civilization, and are trying to destroy it, one little thing at a time.
