[Vanity] What is the average Democrat thinking about his party?

Posted on 08/23/2013 4:14:17 PM PDT by cradle of freedom

Have you heard anything about how the average Democrat voter is thinking about his party these days? Any polls or articles that get into the minds of the Democrat voters.

Hopefully there are cracks in the foundation of the Dem party. Maybe enough Dems and independents can crossover to give us a break. If Reagan got a lot of Democrats to crossover to the Republican side maybe a few percentage points of Democrats and Independents would be enough to defeat the Democrats in 2014 and 2016.

If a substantial number of Democrats could cross over to the Republican side in the 1980's maybe some of the new generation of Democrats will crossover this time around. Young voters who voted for Obama must be really disappointed in him now that they cannot get jobs.

The average Rat doesn’t think. He/she/it just blindly swallow whatever daily lie the party puts out.

I’m no analyst, but I see Dems as solidly united in favor of big government, entitlements, the Life of Julia, and crony capitalism.

Demographics are solidly on their side as every year 2.5 million (mostly white, majority R voting) folks die and are replaced by (mostly minority, heavily D voting) folks.

If they want jobs, they’re already Republicans. Young dems want free stuff, validation of their lifestyle pathologies, and the infliction of misery on hard workers and straight arrows, because they resent those who achieve on their own merits.

We need to focus on the young. It was especially disappointing that Sandra Fluke cotton candy could be effective, but it was. We need to get serious with the young, because eventually they will see the problems, and know trinkets from the democrats will not be enough. We need to talk economics, and demographics, and debt, and the likelihood that if we keep going down this path, the young will inherit a bankrupt country.

My feeling is that about 20-25% of the Democrat party are actually “hard-core” statists.

The balance are mostly clueless libertarians.

When presented with a contradiction within their belief system they either react with violent outrage or, well, indignation that such a question should be presented, much less answered.

The balance, when they answer questions honestly and mostly privately they fall firmly in the libertarian camp.

They fail to connect the dots and many fight for their right to keep everything disconnected.

It’s apparently their right to avoid the unpleasantness of “cognitive dissonance”.

Survival in “The Brave New World” and the “New Normal” requires an embrace of uncertainty.

There has always been uncertainty, in life and in the expansion of this great country, however the new uncertainty has moved from “outcome” to “foundation” of what is or what should be.

Exactly. I can’t remember any Democrat telling me how they’ve carefully thought something through. They always act on their emotions.

“Democrats think?”

Sure, they think. They think “gimme my free stuff”. Our country has been split into two types of people; there’s the takers (liberals) and the makers (conservatives). Sadly, the takers are winning at the moment.
