Smarts dont always equate to common sense. In the case of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), there is an inverse relationship between the two. Im told by smart lawyers that he has a sharp legal mind, can think on his feet and has remarkable recall for facts, cases and even page numbers of the briefs. But his political judgment has become distorted by ambition.
Interestingly, he no longer is touting the line that Republicans unwilling to join the suicide squad own Obamacare. Perhaps someone told him that among the obnoxious and untrue things he has said, this ranks at the top and will put him crosswise with a majority of those GOP senatorial candidates running in 2014.
A Cruz presidential run into 2016 would be interesting, if not downright amusing. An early rebuke in his young career might be a beneficial dose of cold water or devastating to a pol who, even among senators, is excessively convinced of his own exceptionalism.
Cruz is not the guy to build the party or a governing majority (which requires moderate Republicans). But he is just the person to build up Ted Cruz. In fact, he is masterful.

“You better get used to keeping your fringe opinions to yourself’
Wanting Article 2 Section 1 not to be subverted by a constitutional ineligible candidate is not being ‘fringe’.
Like I care what WaPo thinks of any conservative?
let me guess (I didn’t read it) She doesn’t like him...
(am I right?)
Fringers for Cruz! Unite!
Cannot believe I turned down a chance to get a Cruz private meeting with only 100 others. Guess I am too cranky for it this year.

He is a dual citizen by virtue of being born in a foreign sovereignty to a foreign national father and American mother. Representative John Bingham, the author of the 1st section of the 14th Amendment defined a natural born Citizen as this?
Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen. (Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866))
Cruz’s father owed allegiance to Cuba. Cruz was born a U.S. Citizen but not a true Constitutional natural born Citizen eligible for Article 2 Section 1.
Knowing what it says and knowing what it means are two different things. Possession of a pocket Constitution does not an expert make.
...says the lifelong Democrat Rubin who backed John Kerry in 2004.
Should be a colon where the question mark is.
I bet he can read cursive writing.
Never, ever thought I’d get the chance to call you an IDIOT!
LOLOLOLOLOL.
A refugee from Cuba, a legal resident in the US, owes allegiance to Cuba? You must have some good smoke.

Your interpretation of the article is fringe, whether you like it or not, you must face that reality. None of us care about your stupid, useless opinion on the matter.
I think you people are probably just well intentioned fools (for the most part) but most people seem to think you are trolls deliberately trying to undermine Cruz on behalf of some RINO or even the democrats, that you are a recently joined freeper doesn’t help dispel that notion in your particular case.
Your crazy views are counter-productive to our cause, you will not be treated kindly in the following months if your keep spouting them in every Ted Cruz thread. You might save yourself the aggregation and stowe it.
Amen Onyx.
You beat me to it, Billthedrill. The right enemies can prove very useful, especially if they're Washington Post RINOs.
” - - - - trying to put the monkey on the Democrats backs (as the speaker of the House is doing) in the Obamacare fight. - - - “
Duh, missed that fine point, Jennifer.
Sobber of the House Boehner votes to defund, and then claims Deathknell Obama”care” to be “The Law of the Land.”
BTW Jenny baby, Boehner is a dyed in the wool Pro-Welfare Republican, so he will always stick with you Pro-Welfare Journalists.
Good old Washington Post.
You can always count on them to attack anyone who is Conservative.
