The vast majority of people under 35 think that the Christian attitude to gay people is wicked and incomprehensible, the Archbishop of Canterbury has said.
The Most Reverend Justin Welby told an audience of traditional born-again Christians that they must repent over the way gay and lesbian people have been treated in the past and said most young people viewed Christians as no better than racists on the issue.
Archbishop Welby, who as a young priest once opposed allowing gay couples to adopt children, said the church now had to face up to what amounted to one of the most rapid changes in public attitudes ever.

“Heterosexual people have moral reasons for not being homosexual”
I do not know if this is what you mean, but it sounds like you have latent homosexual tendency and chose to be heterosexual for moral reasons.

Isaiah said it first.
Good and evil have switched seats with each other.
Next stop for this train, Judgmentville.
I agree with you. My comments weren’t as much directed at you as much as they are a Bible doctrine drill.
We just went through annual DOD SAPR training and its sickening. The same issues have been around for thousands of years. 50 years ago the issue was handled by Chaplains who expressed the issue of sex in the context of marriage.
Furthermore, the military used to take the perspective that issues such as alcohol and sex were forbidden in combat zones. The last thing anybody needs to be thinking about in a combat zone is alcohol or sex. If they can’t maintain a policy that those things that are unnecessary to keep yourself alive in combat are to be kept out of the area, then they really are in the wrong profession.
When addressing a younger audience which hasn’t been exposed to these issues in society, these basic arguments have to be retaught to younger generations.
Our nation is lost.
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.
Lev 18:23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it [is] confusion.
Lev 18:24 ¶ Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
Lev 18:25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
Lev 18:26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit [any] of these abominations; [neither] any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:
Lev 18:27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which [were] before you, and the land is defiled;)
Lev 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that [were] before you.
I think the point is that the CoE should give him the official heave ho out of his office. He is representing Christ less well than a skunk would. This is a CoE thang and not a Roman Catholic thang.
It’s in big trouble.
Lostness... all who are not in the promise of salvation are lost. But until their life is gone, they can accept salvation. (I’m a strange theologian to many... I’m what some might call a Calminian.)
However the Lord still seeks that the trouble will wake up a groggy nation to the recollection that “the Lord has a better idea.”
“After the commie libs and their lawyers did a number on the Catholic Church and their priests”
The commie libs and their lawyers did a number on *a very few* Catholic priests, and the media made it sound like every single priest was culpable.
The Church is actually a bit better than other groups, such as protestant churches as a group, school teachers, and politicians.
BTW, this “bishop” guy is COE, not RC.
Biblical scope arguments are tricky.
I have recently begun to lean to the view that Romans 13 is addressed to believers. God, who provides for the believer, will also provide chastisement as needed and one way CAN be through a government, even a rotten government. It’s not some blanket endorsement of what any old government wants to do.
This guy thinks the opinions of people under the age of 35 are all that matters.
He probably eats all his meals at Pander Express.

I think it would require an act of Parliament to fire him, wouldn't it? (Not likely !!)
“Archbishop Welby, who as a young priest once opposed allowing gay couples to adopt children, said the church now had to face up to what amounted to one of the most rapid changes in public attitudes ever”
All I know is what God says in his word about the issue, and that God doesn’t change his mind according to public attitudes:
James 1:17:
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Yeah, that’s one of the ways a church-state melange really sucks. Or rather, the way the state is poised to suck it down. I’m speaking of spiritual sucking of course!
“We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one’s own ego and one’s own desires...” — Pope Benedict XVI
i.e. “you’re do-si-do’ing with the devil, folks”
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (NKJ, Leviticus 18:22)
If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. (NKJ, Leviticus 20:13)
What comes out of you is what defiles you. For from within, out of your hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile you. (TNIV, Mark 7:20-23)
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (NIV, 1st Corinthians 6:9-11)
Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it legitimately. 9This means understanding that the law is laid down not for the innocent but for the lawless and disobedient, for the godless and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their father or mother, for murderers, 10fornicators, sodomites, slave traders, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching (NIV, 1 Timothy 1:8-10)
how dare this man call himself a Christian!
The bible is VERY clear on this subject.
Check out the Anglican Church of North America (assuming you’re in the US). It’s made up of ex-Episcopalians who keep the Anglican traditions while pretty much ignoring Canterbury and embracing our conservative brothers & sisters from the global south.
It’s official. The Church of England is no longer Christian. What they are, I don’t know, but it is not Christian.
