Bay Area Holds Protests Over Possible Attack on Syria

Protests held across the Bay Area for and against a possible U.S. strike on Syria

Protesters around the world, including the Bay Area, took to the streets Saturday to protest for and against a possible U.S.-led attack on Syria.

In San Jose, a small crowd gathered in front of City Hall to express their views opposing a possible U.S. action in Syria.

In San Francisco, a larger crowd took their protests to the street. About 100 protesters carried Syrian and American flags up Market Street.

Some protesters are comparing possible military action in Syria to the war in Iraq.

"It's again the U.S. government sending out a political line, saying there's some country we should be afraid of when in reality, 10 years later, we see the disaster Iraq was," protester Frank Lara said. "These resources should be used for fair wages, for things like housing, things like health care and education."

Rallies were also held in San Mateo and Oakland.

The protests come after President Barack Obama said Saturday he was prepared to take action against the Syrian regime for using chemical weapons, but that he will seek congressional authorization before carrying out military strikes.

"These resources should be used for fair wages, for things like housing, things like health care and education."

For impeaching Obama. For nullifying Obamacare.

Flithy Maggots at least don’t blow people up or behead them, they just smell bad.

It’s funny...The fact that there is a protest kind of surprised me. Perhaps there are a few, but I am surprised they are getting any coverage (well obviously they aren’t getting much). If the president had an R after his name, there would be wall to wall 24/7 coverage of massive protests around the world.

I’m glad to see the protesters are consistent. (Bush vs 0bama)

The Nation magazine has an article entitled “Congress Must Block Obama’s War”.

For the second time, I’m on the same side as the Nation.

I’m not surprised the media are downplaying the protests to protect their marxist in the white house.

This may be the one action that shatters the cultural left and right WALL OF SEPERATION that has been slowly built up by the progressives.

This time... I admire them...and ya’ know...we all need to be in the streets protesting any action in Syria from this strike to the arms we’re sending over there.

I think we should remain on the side of those filthy maggots and drive a wedge into the leftist coalition. Heretofore Democrats have been more afraid of the shadowy powers of the Democrat party represented in the figure of George Soros who controls so much of Democrat money and influence but now there's a real chance that the grassroots can revolt and run out of control.

This is one of those happy occasions in which politics and patriotism are aligned and we should use every bit of political advantage we can to advance the cause of the nation.

As usual our problem will be mavericks in the Republican Party led by the usual suspects, McCain and Graham and others in the house who are mavericks only on this issue but might otherwise be Rinos in general. Usually it is the conservatives who are the mavericks.

It is necessary to show the country that the Republican Party understands American national interests and that we conserve our military for its exclusive use in service of our national interest and not to save Obama's reputation or to "send a message." There is a real political opportunity here to expose the entire feckless foreign policy of the Obama administration and, indeed, to expose the rank opportunism of the Democrat party in opposing necessary but Republican supported wars only for Democrat political advantage and for hypocritically supporting wars only because Democrats need to circle the wagons politically.

None of this can be accomplished if the Republicans splinter.

It's my understanding that both Boehner and Pelosi have stated this will be a "vote-your-conscience" issue -- the party leaders will not promote one side or the other.

Which leaves the Republicans in the House with the following choice:

Vote to support the president...or your constituents.

I oppose US involvement in the war in Syria, but not for the same reasons the folks prancing around San Francisco do.

Now, if Commander Zer0 decides to attack, will they call for impeachment?
