Obama: 'I Didn't Set a Red Line' on Syria Daniel Halper September 4, 2013 9:31 AM
President Obama said in Sweden today that he personally "didn't set a red line" on Syria:
"First of all, I didn't set a red line," said Obama. "The world set a red line. The world set a red line when governments representing 98 percent of the world's population said the use of chemical weapons are [inaudble] and passed a treaty forbidding their use, even when countries are engaged in war. Congress set a red line when it ratified that treaty. Congress set a red line when it indicated that in a piece of legislation entitled the Syria Accountability Act that some of the horrendous things happening on the ground there need to be answered for. So, when I said in a press conference that my calculus about what's happening in Syria would be altered by the use of chemical weapons, which the overwhelming consensus of humanity says is wrong, that wasn't something I just kind of made up. I didn't pluck it out of thin air. There's a reason for it."
You’re kidding, right?
Of course he set a red line. He is a mental case trying to deny any liability for the many middle-east disasters and assign blame to everybody else. He is a failed president.
Good catch there. Obama always wants things to happen urgently, on demand, and on his time table. This is so people won;t have time to uncover the flaws. Exhibit A for this tactic is the ill-conceived Obamacare.
He sounds quite stupid when there is no teleprompter.
“First of all, I didn’t set a red line,” said Obama. “The world set a red line.”
So now the narcissist thinks he is president of the world...well that didn’t take long.
Wuddent me You gonna believe me or your lying eyes?
Rush’s theory about Obama on steroids! “ I didn’t set a red line, I had nothing to do with anything, the world and CONGRESSSSSSSSS did it. However, because I am great, I will have to get involved and correct what has been caused by Congress and the world.”
no no no...Obama didn’t didn’t set a red line...
George Bush did...and since the red line was designed and put in place by a white man...
black men can dismiss the red line anytime they wish...
This could kill support for his Syria excursion.
Ho,Ho, Now the Euros, who love him so much, may finally realize the depth of his prevarications.
And they'll still blame Bush.
Credibility of U.S., Congress and intelligence community is on the line not his credibility personally
Idiots in congress are letting him cast them as scapegoats.
If his administration knew so much, as Kerry claims, then why didn’t we act sooner to prevent the use of chemical weapons?
“I didn’t do it! That bed was on fire when I laid down on it.”
Double check your bug out bags. If you don't have a leader, anarchy ensues.
“Obama: I didn’t set a red line....”
This must be their new talking point since the weekend. Nancy Pelousi used the same line yesterday and I was shocked at 1st, then realized that must be their new DNC talking point.
Direct quote. Obama is a delusional megalomaniac.
What a wonderful set of qualities for a Commander in Chief who is about to provoke World War III.....
More Russian warships heading to Med. What could go wrong?
Absurd as that statement is, he is obviously using better speechwriters, adept at getting his foot unstuck from his mouth, in what they think of as “timely fashion”.
He is a mental case
There is something seriously wrong with Obama. He’s going to have a Captain Queeg like breakdown (a la Humphrey Bogart in the Caine Mutiny) one of these days.
This could kill support for his Syria excursion.
I hope you’re right but the Senate is just as loony as he is. Rand Paul seems to be the only one who is concerned about unintended consequences from Obama’s adventure.
He's right about that part but the 'World' is not willing to enforce its own "red line". Where he erred is making a speech that made it his red line. Then he doubled down committing the USA to be the World's cop again. This is going to hurt him big time when people figure it out.
The Bystander in Chief.
Not just FAIL...but EPIC FAIL.
At this point, I don’t care how he tries to weasel out of it. Hopefully this means that there won’t ultimately be an attack on Syria.
1. I am very concerned also!
2. This is a person with his finger on The Button!
3. Is he really nuts?
4. What WILL he Say or DO next?
5. How can he be removed from office?
6. Who is sane enough to replace him?
7. Bug Out Bags (B.U.B.) from 9/11 are being repacked.
8. 9/11 is just around the corner . . .
9. Be Prepared and Be Ready ! ! !
“Get the transcript Candy”!
So, we’re going to war to save the world’s face? Got it..
Ted Cruz is right alongside Rand Paul on this...
"The line in August last year was 'Ruby'. You peasants clearly do not understand 'nuance' at all! You are dismissed from my presence immediately!"
I was just reading Breitbart and someone posted the following after an article about Syria that i thought was spot on. Hat tip to Daffyduck:
I don’t think it is the responsibility of our
military to pull Obama’s big mouth out of the
fire. He should learn to keep it shut. He got
us into this mess by acting like he knew
what he was doing, when in fact, he let his
mouth overload his ass. Let him lose
credibility, if he has any. Like Old Kerry once
said, “it’s not worth losing one life for a
mistake” and the mistake was Obama
running his mouth.

EXCLUSIVE: Syria will not give in even if there is WWIII: minister
The Assad regime and his sect will not surrender. They can’t afford to lose because they will die. Pure and simple, this is a fight to the death for the loyalist forces. The powers that be do not appear to comprehend this. I suppose Assad could jump on a plane to Tehran, but there are a few million that could face death. Unlike the West where the ousted opposition goes on book and lecture tours it means death in the Muslim world.
100k casualties will be a drop in the bucket compared to what will first happen within Syria and then happen in the region. That does not even account for the risk to the West of AQ having stockpiles of WMD. What could possibly go wrong?
It might be a Thoughtcrime for you to even possess the Youtube video. Better get rid of it comrade before you are disappeared.
” Congresses fault “
This will soon be forgotten, along with the rest of his lies.
The Syria Accountability Act of 2003 says nothing about military action. It’s mostly about Hezbollah and Lebanon and supporting terrorism. This guy is certifiable.. he is the monkey with a grenade.
“I didn’t say what I said yesterday”
They know the MSM will back them up and rewrite history
He said red line “in the sand”.
Again, Al Gorebull warming’s invention can be used to document another lie by the head liar of America.

Obama Threatens Force Against Syria
By MARK LANDLER
WASHINGTON President Obama warned Syria on Monday that it would face American military intervention if there were signs that its arsenal of unconventional weapons was being moved or prepared for use. It was Mr. Obamas first direct threat of force against Syria, as he has resisted being drawn into the bloody 18-month rebellion.
The presidents warning raises the pressure on President Bashar al-Assad, whom Mr. Obama again called on to relinquish power. And it underscores the deepening alarm among American officials that, as Syria sinks further into civil war, its unconventional weapons could be seized by radical forces tied to terrorist groups like Hezbollah or Al Qaeda.
The warning brings Mr. Obama, who has brushed aside calls to impose a no-fly zone or to arm the Syrian rebels, a step closer to direct American engagement. The specter of unconventional weapons being loosed in the heart of the Arab world, he said, would upend his calculation that military intervention would only worsen the situation.
We cannot have a situation in which chemical or biological weapons are falling into the hands of the wrong people, Mr. Obama said in response to questions at an impromptu news conference at the White House. We have been very clear to the Assad regime but also to other players on the ground that a red line for us is, we start seeing a whole bunch of weapons moving around or being utilized.
That would change my calculus, he added. That would change my equation.
Oh wait, Obozo liar said change his calculus not draw a red line then.
