George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, to file for divorce
CBS News ^ | 09/05/2013 | Julia Dahl

George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, is planning to file for divorce. Robert Zimmerman, Jr. tweeted the news to his more than 24,000 followers just after 5 p.m: "According to Shellie's atty Kelly Sims - Shellie is preparing to file 4 divorce. Docs have not yet been filed in Seminole Cty. Pray 4 them."

The Associated Press reports that Sims has confirmed Shellie plans to end their six-year marriage.

George Zimmerman, 29, was acquitted of second-degree murder in the Feb. 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on July 13. The case made international news after it took police several weeks to arrest Zimmerman in the case.

Tuesday, Zimmerman was pulled over for speeding by a Fla. cop.

Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, has also had trouble with the law. On Aug. 28, she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor perjury and was sentenced to one year of probation.

“for better or worse”...

easy divorce has long made a mockery of the marriage commitment.

Then again,if the couple doesn't go through premarital counseling with a good minister or priest they have no real idea of the seriousness of those vows.

I say this as a divorced man whose ex wasted little time finding yet another.

Well if anyone of his defenders would step up I’d think his employment chances are better than most in this economy.

Problem may be with old George..just saying

I’m not generally a fan of divorce, but that’s mainly when there are children. With no kids and a dramatic life change that is not either person’s fault and could not have been anticipated, I don’t blame her. They might be better off separating if they are not handling the death threats, legal threats, and systematic liberal persecution well together. I wish them both well.

I think when his book comes out I will make it a point to go to the neighborhood private book store in town and special order it. That will really tic off the lib who runs the place.

Ask if there will be a book signing visit.

I think that I read somewhere that their marriage was already on the rocks when he took down Trayvon the thug.

The pressure and sheer stress of being married to someone who is treated like Ted Bundy and Charlie Manson rolled into one when he gets so much as a speeding ticket was probably too much for her. Of course, the authoritarian, statist left will interpret this as yet another reason why George should have been serving a life term without and parole possibility for civil rights violations.

Maybe she doesn’t want to live her life with the constant cloud of threatened violence against her husband hovering over her along with the incessant verbal attacks that will follow them everywhere. Although not justified, Zimmerman has become a pariah.

Rumor has it they were having big problems BEFORE all this SHTF. She did hang tough with him during the worst of it, but now, time to move on. No one, but no one, knows what goes on inside their neighbor’s house.

Ditto. I can't imagine the kind of stress they've lived with.

In all fairness, the kind of thing that has befallen them could easily lead to divorce.

Face it, she probably is tired of being followed and watched by folks wanting to harm them and harass them day and night.

Who knows how long this crap goes on? Maybe she just wants a normal life.

I see this as a strategic move. If she gets separated from George she has a better chance of not being harassed the rest of her life.

He is doing it out of love for her. JMO.

“I will make it a point to go to the neighborhood private book store in town and special order it. That will really tic off the lib who runs the place. “

If the lib has a copy ask to see it, feign outrage to make him feel good then order it off Amazon from your I-phone in front of him.
