After Monday’s shootings at the Washington Navy Yard in Southeast D.C., District Mayor Vincent Gray is calling for members of Congress to enact stronger federal gun control laws. ....
“Gun violence is a sad fact of life in America, and in the District,” Gray says. “But it’s not a fact we have to live with forever.”
“How many more tragedies — whether at a military installation just blocks from the Capitol last week, or in a movie theater in Colorado last year or on the streets of our nation’s cities every day — how much more senseless tragedy do we have to endure before we enact common sense gun legislation?” he asked.

Wait if I remember correctly and I was enlisted in the NAVY, the yard is a gun free zone with contracted police officers.

Here in Michigan where we’ve got open carry, crime is going down along with the number of police. Come to think of it, can anyone remember the last time we had a mass shooting in Michigan?

Absolutely correct - - just allow law abiding citizens to exercise their second amendment rights and the rate of such deaths at the hands of the lawless will plummet.
Mr. Gray should worry about gun laws in the area for which he has authority.
Oops - wait - they've already got strict laws in D.C. - none of which of course did anything to prevent the shooting.

Sensible gun laws do an extremely good job of making sure law-abiding citizens cannot keep and bear arms.

Most States now have sensible gun control: Concealed Carry Permits and Open Carry for all to defend themselves from these violent criminals.

Abolish “gun free zones” and instead require everyone who does not own a gun to put up signs in their front yards that say “Unarmed Victims Here.”
