Iran parades 30 2,000-km range missiles

During parade marking anniversary of Iran-Iraq war, army displays missiles capable of hitting Israel, US bases. President Rohani says ready for talks with West, Israel 'trampled all international WMD treaties'

Iran paraded 30 missiles with a nominal range of 2,000 kilometers (1,250 miles) Sunday, the first time it had displayed so many with a stated capacity to hit Israeli targets.

Iran displayed 12 Sejil and 18 Ghadr missiles at the annual parade marking the anniversary of the outbreak of the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

The stated range of both missiles would put not only Israel but also US bases in the Gulf within reach.

Iran's President Hassan Rohani, speaking at the parade on the eve of a trip to New York to attend the UN General Assembly, declared his country is ready for talks with the West on its disputed nuclear problem.

Rohani, who was elected in June promising a new willingness to engage diplomatically with the world, has said the trip may be a chance to start a new round of nuclear negotiations.

Rohani and President Barack Obama are both scheduled to attend the General Assembly's annual meeting in the week ahead, setting up the possibility of the first exchange between American and Iranian leaders in more than three decades.

Ever wonder how Iran would deliver their nukes?

The Iranians aren’t capable of building a refinery, but they can make long range missiles?

Maybe they buy them from the Norks or Pakis?

I guess they could use those missiles but I would bet they would use some kind of sneaky method such as a small boat or maybe a shipping container.

There must be a huge number of potential ways.

In the 1950’s the question was, “Can the AEC make ballistic missiles practical?” The problem was miniaturization. A crude nuclear weapon is relatively simple to make. One that can fit on a missile (China thanks Clinton) is a lot tougher.

“Ever wonder how Iran would deliver their nukes?”

I’m still betting they’ll use UPS or FedEx. ICBM’s have a return address. Also, they’d have to get them past Iron Dome which might not be a sure bet. (Oh, they’ll still detonate, but in an Arab country.)

Perhaps Putin could lend some knowledgable engineers to his ally.

If NYT author James Risen has solid sources, the Iranians already possess a nuclear warhead design. Not only did the Loral deal under Clinton aid the Chi-coms, Operation Merlin delivered the design plans for a nuclear warhead to Iran.

The idea was to have a former Soviet nuclear scientist provide the Iranians with a faulty design to lead them down the wrong path. Problem was, the scientist double crossed the CIA and corrected the plans. All they require now is the raw material to assemble it. My money is on the Norks giving them the plutonium.

Wen Ho Lee, Loral, Operation Merlin, and heaven only knows how many more Charlie Foxtrots happened on Clinton's watch. I'd really like to know what Sandy Berger was trying to cover up with the documents he stole.

Are these the same missiles that are now in Venezuela?

And as Mark Steyn observed, you can tell that the new regime in Iran is really moderate because only half of the long-range missiles say “Death to America” on the side, instead of all of them.

Please do not assume that because they are Muslim, they are idiots. If Iran builds a nuke, it won’t be crude. It will be as good as anything the Israelis have.

It is a bad thing to underestimate your opponent.
