He was paid minimum wage but he told me he would work for free because the REAL money was in the T-shirts, hats, and other products he confiscated from vendors walking around the parking lot and selling them illegally. The technique was to simply flash a badge and give the vendors the choice of being arrested or allowing their stuff to be confiscated and then walk away. All choose the latter option. Then the security guy would keep the confiscated stuff and sell them later at a 100% profit.
