WASHINGTON, D.C. - WPSD Local 6 got an inside glimpse Wednesday night to how much the government shutdown is about the messaging for congressional lawmakers.
After finishing an interview with CNN, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul ran into Senator Mitch McConnell, who was waiting for an interview of his own.
In front of a camera, with a microphone on, the two Kentucky leaders talked strategy. Senator Paul began, "Do you have a second?" "I'm all wired up here, um," Senator McConnell replied.
"I just did CNN and I just go over and over again 'We're willing to compromise. 'We're willing to negotiate.' I think... I don't think they poll tested we won't negotiate. I think it's awful for them to say that over and over again," Paul said.
"Yeah, I do too and I, and I just came back from that two hour meeting with them and that, and that was basically the same view privately as it was publically," McConnell agreed.
Paul added, "I think if we keep saying 'We wanted to defund it. We fought for that and that we're willing to compromise on this', I think they can't, we're gonna, I think... well I know we don't want to be here, but we're gonna win this I think."
Paul has said that he doesn't want a government shutdown, but that the U.S. must find ways to reduce debt.
Maybe, but the one question I asked is what does winning look like? What will make us go woohoo?
If I overestimate dem strength why are the republicans the ones that are coming out publicly?
In another thread I stated openly about worrying for Senator Cruz. I see Politico wrote the first process story. I agree it is a typical hatchet job, but, this is how it starts. Always blame the leaders of the revolt.

How are you going to be vindicated if you lose even more power. There is talk that 25 republican house members may not vote for latest plan. If it fails republicans become irrelevant

Yes. They come out of the woodwork like roaches to try to depress us whenever they’re worried. Some are too subtle to get caught, but on the other hand that makes them too subtle to be effective.

The Fact checkers are out in full force because lets face it all Romney did was fib. So everyone just chill a little our guy will come back. The hit in the polls will be minor at worst. The process stories will eat Willard up. The amount of persuadable voters are very small. Women will not abandon and democrats are just going to get mad. Oh and I will bet that when the red light comes on again our guy will show up. So sleep well and relax."

E-verify has only been down 3 days. The company had ample time to verify especially since your son graduated in June. I would find out what the company is doing or not doing.
Well, government worker, he was told he was hired two days ago. And told yesterday that he could not start work until eVerify was working. He was working elsewhere in June at a mostly seasonal job.
Horrible timing. Well he should be working by November, I predict.
But the CR funds the government at the same levels as the sequester implemented. I thought this was all about blocking the implementation of a bad piece of legislation, Obamacare. Now it's about debt reduction?
