Isn’t Burlington the murder capital of the USA? They need gun control!
/s
Those laws might be good. Do we have any historical evidence that “gun-free zones” are unsafe?
And don’t go back to the Old West for examples. This is the 21st century and we’re a modern country.
I’ve been warning my friend in VT and NH to get ready for the lib take over. First it’ll be gun control, then especially in NH it will be a sales and income taxes added. When that happens they will far surpass MA tax rate because of their property taxes.
I’m going to laugh when it happens. I may even laugh at them in person.
They throw up a whole bunch of stuff they know they won’t get, but they put one goal in there they really want to get, more than the others.
they then concede on a whole bunch but keep the one they really want. they look like they compromised and “gave up” stuff they never cared nearly as much about as the one goal they did want to get through.
it’s also a test to make sure they can try banning something and seeing if their “exemption” to regulating firearms will hold up in court. if it does they’ll go after a whole other bunch of stuff next time.
And these idiots in VT will go for it.
re NH you have no idea what youre talking about.
.Contois Auditorium in Burlingtons City Hall was standing room only”
...I’ve been to Burlington many times. The last place I’d want to be with all the stinky ass hippies in that town is “standing room only”.
Recent (post-1990) events indicate that "gun-free zones" are treated as "free-fire zones" by the criminally-minded and/or psychologically afflicted.
Bravo Zulu, Bob and Diane.
I was a resident of Burlington for 8 years myself. While not “the murder capitol” there have been some notorious murders there, interestingly they did not involve firearms...more the crowbar variety, in broad daylight nonetheless.
That would be DC.
“Isnt Burlington the murder capital of the USA? They need gun control!”
I don’t know about that, but the last time I was there, I thought I was in East Germany. Dour buildings with lots of bums on the streets. Not at all like what I expected or anything like the rest of the towns I visited in the state. I just imagine that Bernie Saunders is from there, being that he’s basically a Communist!
ping for later reading...
Vermont is extremely liberal, and Burlington is the liberal center of Vermont. It’s the biggest city in Vermont, and it’s home to the University of Vermont. Hippie central in spades.
OTOH, Vermont is very favorable to guns. The whole state is populated by hippies with guns. In a typical episode, one of my in-laws, who is further to the left than Lenin, sat on his porch one day and shot fifteen squirrels, because his wife complained that they were dining on her bird feeder.
I think that Vermont has fewer gun control laws than any other state, including Texas, and I don’t think they’ve tightened up at all during all these Moms against Guns moments.
Oh but I do. You’ll get it (more taxes) soon enough. And your little dog too!
I was surprised to learn that VT is very pro gun.
It’s the same old story throughout once conservative sections of New England - Bostonians move there to get away from the rat race, and bring the rats along with them.
>>Mayor Miro Weinberger pushed for an assault weapons ban <<
It doesn’t make sense in my small mind that a Jew would fight to restrict guns. Something is missing from the article. Was he dropped on his head as a child?
