Obama-tied firm won plum $100K ‘Let’s Move’ logo gig, bid-free

No need to bid. A marketing firm with close ties to President Obama and his political campaigns was given the lucrative job of designing Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” anti-obesity logo without having to go through the government contract bidding route.

Judicial Watch reported the firm, Shepardson, Stern & Kaminsky, was awarded the $100,000 job, in violation of federal contracting rules. And that’s not just Judicial Watch’s interpretation of law — federal officials admitted the deal was an “unauthorized commitment,” in documents obtained by the government watchdog from a Freedom of Information Act request.

In a written statement, Judicial Watch reported that the U.S. Department of Agriculture put together a “request for ratification of an unauthorized commitment” as a means of making the deal legitimate. Judicial Watch also reported that records obtained from the FOIA indicate that federal authorities who awarded the company the $100,000 job did so because the anti-obesity campaign was considered too important to delay for the normal bidding process.

[snip]

Moreover, Judicial Watch also found that the firm headed up the Obama for America’s youth campaigns in 2008 and again in 2012. Prior to winning the Obama administration’s favor, the firm had only worked one government contract — for the Department of Defense in 2002, for $50,000.

A $100,000 "plum" contract?

Sorry this is not one to get worked up about, given:

Competitive bidding may have resulted in a slight savings of $10-15K. Cost of soliciting the bid would easily topped that.

When Nancy Reagan needed and purchased new china for the White House (paid for by donations) she was viciously attacked by the Left.

But the Dems move taxpayer money around to Obama’s friends by giving Michelle’s friends no-bid contracts for an “obesity awareness” campaign, and to “set-up” the Obamacare website (and who knows what else) and no one on the Left blinks?

Oh, and there was that gig that Michelle had in community affairs at the Chicago hospital for $275K.

Kind of like Hillary’s stint at the Rose Law Firm.

They get away with it so much they don’t even try to hide it anymore. This administration is untouchable and they know it. It is not going to get any better.

USDA created a “request for ratification of an unauthorized commitment." In other words, a request to legally break the law. Government cronyism makes me sick.

So what did we get for $100k? You be the judge…

I'm still trying to figure out the red blobs on the right. Kind of looks like somebody diving head-first into a pool. Or maybe some girl jumping in pain because her kneecaps fell off. Or maybe jumping for joy because her constipation has suddenly been dumped.

Ok so you have a min wage intern crank this out, 2 hours X $7.50 = 15.00

100,000-15 = 99,985 gross profit

less 30,000 campaign contributions to Dems

$69,985 net profit.

Not bad....

Just what kind of accountability system do we have??? Shouldn’t someone be arrested for this fraud? This graft? This cronyism? Criminals. “Let’s move” them into prison!
