FReepers in the Philippines and nearby please check in with us.
Hope you and yours are safe.
ST Yolanda rolled right across the central Visayas.
Lots of low-lying and slide prone areas on the many small islands. This was a truly devastating storm.
Pray for the people of the PI.
Also near the MacArthur landing spot in 1944.
It is a very Christian area, over 90% catholic.
I hope they faired better then initial reports....that is quite a storm, fierce and very large.
I prepare for hurricanes and tornados and have long term food and water stored so I can get to it if the roof or house comes down and I keep a prepared backpack with food and water in them next to me if I have tornado warnings and there is another prepared backpack in my car. It doesn't matter where you live, stuff can happen.

Thanks for the link.
Looks like it’ll skirt Danang and the central coast and come ashore around the old DMZ.
Prayers for all those affected.
Dreadful. RIP.
Many reports out now have the death toll at well over 10K.
So not the windiest. Still a lot of folks killed. Where could someone like that go if they had enough warning?
One source says a lot of Christians (mostly Roman Catholic). I want to try not to precipitate the usual Reformed vs. Catholic storms which can get to near Cat 5 on their own. I sit on a fence called John 3:16 (and everything else is details).
But as the bible says, the judgment starts with the house of God. That makes sense because they have the highest responsibility due to what they have. If you can say you got Jesus, God jolly well wants you to be acting like it too. Hypocrisy is the biggest gospel pooper the world knows.
The drawback of living on an island....no way to escape unless you manage to hop on a plane.
I’d think with enough warning, boats could get out of the way too. Still you’d need enough supplies on those boats.
