JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Reuters) - A north Florida school board has voted unanimously to change the name of a local high school honoring a Confederate general who made a fortune as a slave trader and was linked to the Ku Klux Klan.
"It's time to move forward with the renaming of Nathan B. Forrest High ... it's time to really put it to bed," said School Board member Constance Hall, who asked the Board to finally begin the process of changing the name on Friday.
Hall and the board's other African American member were joined in the 7-0 vote by four whites and a Hispanic member in voting to change the name.
Four Jacksonville schools are named after Confederate heroes, including Robert E. Lee High School, as well as the city's downtown square.

Now—it will be Obama High School or maybe Malcome X High.
Nathan B.Forrest High School needs to be concentrating on academics instead of changing its name. Only 24% of students can read and only 16% can compute. They are in the business of graduating another generation of welfare dependents.

Of course, the scores will go up now . yeah, of course.
There was also the forced resignation of a city father in Washington DC because of ignorance applied to his use of the word "niggardly."
Political correctness has nothing whatever to do with correct history.
How about Emaculate Obama High School? Amazes me how people deny rather than embrace and learn from history. It it a compilation of good and bad...all lessons for the present. We erase the bad lessons...and no one learns, then we must learn again, the hard way.
Will they remove..............
MLK was a republican, that the civil rights law was brought up by republicans and it was the democrates that voted against it? revisionist history, especially black revisionist history will make your head spin in the future. Wait and see what they write about the greatest president who ever lived

Vorwärts! Vorwärts! was a marching song of the Hitler youth.
I am originally from Palm Beach County, FL, my middle school’s name was Jefferson Davis Middle School. They changed it about 10 years ago.
How about “Al Sharpton” High, they can even drop the word “school” off the banner.
That’s awesome, now everything is fixed ! More wasting of time and money.
Oh, so “they culture” is sacred....ours, not so much.
That would just be a change from honoring a person they claim was a racist and a slave trader to honoring a person we know for certain is a racist, a thief, a liar, a scam artist and a criminal.
Stupid Is as Stupid Does!
But the guy was a loyal Democrat!!
In Kansas City, MO we have an elementary school named after Derrick Thomas. He was a professional football player who was killed in an SUV accident (roll over on an icy highway while speeding) and left six or seven kids by four or five baby mommas behind with no money. Just the type of man who young kids need to look up to as a roll model.
