Nathan B.Forrest High School needs to be concentrating on academics instead of changing its name. Only 24% of students can read and only 16% can compute. They are in the business of graduating another generation of welfare dependents.

Reading Proficiency Distribution

Reading proficiency is determined by student results on the school’s Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.

Total Students Tested 272
Below Basic 39%
Basic 38%
Proficient-Level 3 15%
Advanced-Level 4 8%
Advanced-Level 5 1%

Math Proficiency Distribution

Math proficiency is determined by student results on the school’s Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.

Total Students Tested 149
Below Basic 45%

Proficient-Level 3 15%
Advanced-Level 4 1%
Advanced-Level 5 0%

They might as well go further on the same logic and rename all Thomas Jefferson high schools and for the reasons expressed in my about page. There was a movement some time ago to change the name of the school bearing George Washington's name which makes no less sense.

There was also the forced resignation of a city father in Washington DC because of ignorance applied to his use of the word "niggardly."

Political correctness has nothing whatever to do with correct history.

How about Emaculate Obama High School? Amazes me how people deny rather than embrace and learn from history. It it a compilation of good and bad...all lessons for the present. We erase the bad lessons...and no one learns, then we must learn again, the hard way.

“It’s time to move forward with the renaming of Nathan B. Forrest High
Vorwärts! Vorwärts! was a marching song of the Hitler youth.

In Kansas City, MO we have an elementary school named after Derrick Thomas. He was a professional football player who was killed in an SUV accident (roll over on an icy highway while speeding) and left six or seven kids by four or five baby mommas behind with no money. Just the type of man who young kids need to look up to as a roll model.

Victim-hood, in dah hood.

Primary reason the black community fails to move forward in society...persistent victim mentality.

The new slavery...welfare.

Blame others for YOUR failure. Let's call it like it is folks.

The majority of the inner city black community is a welfare sub-culture. I wanna know what dah gubbamint gonna do fer-me.

Hooked on duh check. Tradin food stamps for .50 cent on the dollah sowz you can score sum crack or malt liqueur.

It is what it is y'all. Gotta call a spade a spade...or is this too un-pc. Ok, ok....we gotta call a heart a heart.

Pull up your pants, pull out the gold grill, unfurl the corn rows and get a hair cut, practice NOT speaking in ebonics, learn to say what you mean and mean what you say, stop sleepin till noon and stayin up till 2am hangin with the boy’z and go to work. Stop sucking the juice of life out of this country.

Contribute, take care of your babies or refrain from having them. Don't run from the lawman. Better yet, abide by the law and stop poppin caps at one another. Hold your fellow citizen accountable and twist the spigot handle of welfare to the off position.

Nothing goes further than for a man to feel like a man. Stand on your own two feet. From dependent to self sufficiency, from hanging to working.

What’s funny is that until the School Board explained who Nathan Bedford Forrest is, no one at the high school even knew or cared who he was.

For most of today's Black leadership, this offers a tempting opportunity for agitation, moral preening, and an easy symbolic win over the Confederacy and racism. And, best of all, through such misdirection, they can continue to ignore the profound moral self-degradation of so many of their people. I know and know of Black leaders of a different and better kind and rue that there are too few of them for the challenges they have taken up.

What your seeing in the Florida School Board is a generation of NEA educated idiots who, like my daughter, now a CPA, never heard of Nathan Bedford Forrest. What the hell, he was only regarded on both sides as the very best fighting cavalryman in the Civil War on either side. Reportedly, William Tecumseh Sherman said exactly that.

Here’s a few facts about Forrest:

* Born 1821, died 1877
* Eldest of 12 children
* almost zero formal education as he had to work to support his family
* was a planter and slave trader when it was legal
* though very wealthy at the time, Forrest enlisted as a private in June 1861 along with his brother Jeffrey and son Willie
* within about a year, he was a Brigadier General
* he always led from the front and was in the middle of the fighting and is credited with killing at least 2 dozen enemy in personal combat
* wounded 4 times and had over 30 horses shot out from under him
* outfitted his men with his own money
* his battle at Brice’s crossroads against a far superior force is still studied in War Colleges around the world today
* 45 of his 47 slaves fought with him and survived the war
* at his funeral thousands came but most notably hundreds and hundreds of African Americans
* Rommel, Patton and Norman Schwarzkopf all studied his tactic’s
* Forrest’s great grandson, Nathan Bedford Forrest III, was killed in 1943 in a B17 raid over Berlin
* The entire union army couldn’t kill him despite all out efforts but diabetes did, at 56.
* Forrest quit the Klan and threaten to lead a force against them if they did not stop their terrorizing and in some cases murder. To his last days, he spoke out vociferously against the Klan.

Nathan Bedford Forrest was arguable the greatest fighting general this country ever produced and the most fearless man that has ever wore a uniform and I thank god his honorable name has been removed from that septic tank of a school.
