There was much talk on the radio about a VIP in a plane crash. Jim came to mind but I thought he flew a single engine.

Inhofe attended Duke University and studied biomedical engineering and electrical engineering.

Just damn. I wonder sometimes why people like this must die, when human waste walks the Earth. I hope he had a good life.

According to FlightAware, a flight tracking website, the plane took off from Salina, Kan., and was en route to Tulsa International Airport on a 43-minute flight.

The plane had been traveling at speeds in excess of 300 mph before decelerating at 3:43 p.m. According to FlightAware, the plane’s speed dropped to 98 mph at 4:44 p.m. In the final recorded data, the plane was flying south at 110 mph at 3:50 p.m. at an altitude of 1,100 feet.

Justin Allison, of Tulsa, was flying a plane minutes behind the one that crashed, and said he heard air traffic controllers report that a plane in front of him had experienced engine failure.

Didn’t the Senator have plane trouble a number of years ago? Or was that someone else?

From New York Times:

“National News Briefs; Senator Lands Airplane After Propeller Falls Off
Published: May 10, 1999

Senator James M. Inhofe made an emergency landing on Saturday after the propeller of the small airplane he was flying fell off.

Mr. Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican, was not injured, said his press secretary, Danny Finnerty.

Mr. Inhofe said he had been in the air about 10 minutes when the propeller dropped off.

Mr. Inhofe, who has been a pilot for 41 years, glided for about eight miles before landing at an airport here.

Mr. Finnerty said the F.B.I. had been asked to investigate because ‘’propellers don’t just fly off airplanes every day.’’”

Interesting that this article is on an OKC Tv station website but the Tulsa World, the paper closest to the crash and published in Inhofe’s hometown does not specifically say Dr. Inhofe is dead, only that the plane is linked to him by its registration. The Tulsa World article specifically says officials have not yet identified the dead pilot.

Only fatality was Inhofe....this thing stinks to high heaven.

Have we moved into the age of ‘hidden’ assassinations????

Prayers up to the Inhofe family. So sad!

Although I have to fly in smaller planes at times I avoid them like the plague whenever possible. My Dad was a pilot and owned a wide variety of them but I never wanted to fly in them. I'm sure they are probably safer than I think but I'm a white knuckle flier anyway so I like the big planes.

Dr. Inhofe was a remarkable man of achievement and a brilliant surgeon. I knew him. This is devastating.
