Easiest way to make sure your child grows into a conservative adult???

For mine it was when she had her first ‘real’ job as a grocery bagger (oops courtesy clerk). When they took out her union dues and taxes and she saw what was left she decided that conservatism was for her.

Sorry, but the number one thing you can do is simply this, keep your kid out of public schools.. send them to a private or parochial school during their formative years, so that by the time they get to college they already are well aware of what the liberal dogma is and how to logically counter it.

PERIOD.

Your mandate may be true for you and yours. It was not true for me and mine.
(Understanding of proper punctuation is obviously lacking ;-)

Glad to hear it! I think most kids straighten out after the rebellious years. I did once I received my first important pay check and saw all the money going to the government!

I took my daughter to FreeRepublic events in DC and then when we got home we would watch the news. I would ask her. Is that what happened. She would say no. She learned how the left lied early.

The other main thing is really talking to your kids. Do not abandon them to T.V. or other distractions. It may sound old-hat, but teach your child how to swing an axe, how to shoot, etc. Teach them the value of hard work, and more importantly, teach them the history of freedom and liberty and how authoritarians on the left have been murdering millions for centuries.

Make them work at a dead end job for a year between high school and college.

What worked for me and my children:

Know your child: You need to be a student of his or her personality, temperament, capabilities and knowledge. Base what you do on your assessment. I was able to talk with my oldest when he was out of line and he absorbed it and changed his behavior. His younger brother was stubborn. His seat needed to be warmed, followed by a cool down time, before his mind opened up. Teach him or her to learn about themselves and to have an accurate self assessment. Teach them how to compensate for gaps and leverage their strengths. This is critical as they grow and gradually replace the retraint you provide as a parent with self control. Teach and model the fruits of the Spirit.

Attendance at church and a scriptural foundation: they know that God exists, that He came to live among us and He died to spare us the eternal consequences of our sins. They have an understanding of scripture and understand basic apologetics, including creation vs evolution. (big bang, punctuated equilibrium, etc.). They understand that they are accountable to God.

Education: we used a combination of home schooling, christian school, and public school, depending on the child and the situation. We were not afraid to confront the school when they were out of line. We made sure we knew what was being taught and provided what our kids needed to mentally counteract what they were being told. By the time they reached college they knew very well how to think, reason and respond (or keep quiet). We were not obnoxious, or "helicopter" parents, even though the school was quick to presume we were cut from that cloth. It was fun to watch their expressions when we burst their biased liberal bubbles.

Modeling: When they were young I had a paper route to augment income. Sometimes they went with me. It was an excellent opportunity for them to learn that work is hard and has its rewards. We listened to Christian radio and talked for hours. My oldest once asked what a hippie was. We were talking about the 60's, Vietnam, drugs and counter culture for over two hours.

These are incredibly brief windows into subjects that could go on for chapters. Hopefully they will encourage others to step up and find ways to counter the lies no matter what your personal circumstances.

‘Cant overemphasize their involvement in some type of, but preferably varsity sports program. With good coaching, it helps build character.

OK, but how come so many kids born in the late 1940s, and gone to school and lived in the (pardon the cliche) Ozzie and Harriet world of the 1950s, said the pledge of alliegance and even a little prayer before school started became counter-culture hippies in the 1960s? Sometimes things aren’t so cut and dry.

What a child needs is DISCIPLING. [...] The best way to make sure that your child is getting discipled with your family’s values is for him to be educated by your family.

You mean as in "being a disciple?"

Or do you mean "DISCIPLINING" and "disciplined?"

Regards,

Dude, let’s put a little rigor in your analysis and make the rash assumption that the child is molded by experience beginning from birth, if not in the womb. Sigmund Freud claimed with a good amount of justification that a child’s basic personality, its foundation, was pretty much built in the first 5 years of life.

I’m going to offer a serious heretical idea for all you “life’s a bitch and then you die” conservatives- see to it that your kids laugh a lot while growing up. It’s that simple. Then they’ll be less likely to think of you as a domineering tyrant with zero insight as to what children require in order to make them happier and smarter than you are. Because it’s obvious, from evidence presented on Free Republic about liberal hegemony across a number of cultural and political and economic fronts, that conservatives have not been quite as smart as the competition. I’m not sure at what age it is appropriate for a child to become aware that it has a mind of its own and that its care and feeding is his responsibility, but I am sure that if you pound doctrine into your child’s head with a jackhammer, he’s going to rebel at the first opportunity.

Unless you've found a very special college, most college teachers are products of "public" schooling. Plus, college years are supposed to be for learning, not countering. If there is any ability to counter, there wouldn't be any need for the schooling. Jus' sayin' (no period)

what about the responsibility of those solid Christian parents to counteract what the public schools are teaching? regardless of where their child attends, it is the responbility of the parent to make sure their children understand what Conservative ideology is, why we believe it, and what the other side thinks, so they can recognize it and refute it. to do otherwise is irresponsible. Assume your child who lives in the world will be exposed to other influences, and ARM THEM with the truth and the means to counter it.

Get rid of the TV spend time with your children.

People are socialists. That's not nice to say around here, but there's some truth in it. Once we identify with a group--that will be our magnet and orientation for life. Spending time with children is the primary condition for making home life the social solace of the human person. As parents we risk losing if we don't compete with other forms of identity.

Let's make list of what makes home the first choice of social identity:

1. good food
2. laughter
3. great stories
2. warmth and cleanliness

Anybody care to add?

It's amazing what lengths people will go to strive becoming a member of a social group!

This is a testament to the life changing effects of drugs.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The best place to do that is in the home surrounded by caring family and trusted friends and neighbors.

well the kids in your sunday school class, do their parents not educate them properly about what Conservatives believe and why? you do not need 8 hours a day to do that, ANY parent, regardless of where their kids attend school can take the responsibility for educating their child to be prepared to reject lib bias. My kids all attended private school. Their Catholic elementary school always said that parents are the primary educators of their children, that the school is there to assist them. My point is no matter where kids go to school, they can be raised to be a conservative versed in the ideology and able to combat adverse influences. Far too many conservatives do not do enough to make sure their kids know why we believe what we do.
