Senator Mark Begich (D., Ala.(sic)) said Monday that he has enrolled in a health-insurance plan through the federal marketplace.
Begich, who has been a supporter of Obamacare, told the Associated Press that he had no trouble signing up. He also declared that the difference in the exchanges performance between its launch and now was day and night.
Previously, enrollment proved so difficult that Enroll Alaska, a company founded specifically to enroll Alaskans, threw in the towel. According to the company, the federal exchanges subsidy calculator was under-calculating the tax subsidy Alaskans were eligible for by $100.
The freshman senator said that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services had informed him that the calculator was now functional. Tyann Boling, Enroll Alaskas chief operating officer said that she had not been able to confirm that the calculator had been fixed.
Let me venture a guess...he gave the assignment to a staffer who walked the paperwork over to the HHS building, and waited until some peon ground it through...
Oops, sorry for the double request. ;)
I input his info into the Alaska calculator. Their plans are a heckuva lot cheaper than Californias. So say he make $143k and his wife owns several small businesses so we’ll just say she makes $100k. Not bad insurance for peeps making that kind of money. Hubby and I pay a lot more for insurance now and are nowhere near their income.
An Alaskan democrat?? That must be as rare as an Hawaiian Bigfoot.
Is SP going to run for this seat or Joe Miller?
Both would be a VAST improvement over the incumbent.
Unemployment is next you left wing scum.
Are we to believe that Begich would drop his top-of-the-line U.S. Senate coverage for the commoners’ Obamacare?
Tell him what you think on twitter @SenatorBegich
Only briefly. Defeated pols quickly wind up in lobbying or think tanks or hedge funds. It's a revolving door for sure.
Obama uses fraudulent accounting to overstate the number of people who have enrolled in Obamacare
He probably signed up for the cheapest bronze level policy they offer just so he can claim it come next election, he is like lots of Americans who have double coverage through both employers.
It would be worth the $ per month for him just so he can deflect questions about it from voters, I bet he never gives up their good policy completely though. Someone needs to ask him if he did that, be interesting to hear his answer.
Sadly not rare at all in the cities where much of the state's population lives.
The Federal Health Benefits Open Season is for Federal Employees to enroll, change or add to their health benefits.
The 2013 Federal Benefits Open Season begins Monday, November 11, 2013 through December 9, 2013 for the Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS), Federal Employees Dental and Vision Program (FEDVIP), and Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program.
This is health insurance for federal workers that has been around for decades.
This is not OBAMACare.
Someone should ask him what he really enrolled into!!!!!
Stupid is as stupid does.
LOL I see the Dems are attacking Ted Cruz because his wife has a deluxe policy for him via Goldman Sachs.
This guy, Rep. Kurt Schrader is saying that Barry grossly mislead the public on O’care, yet the Oregon Rep. Schrader VOTED FOR IT. Why did he not speak out then (as a business owner)? Trying to save his own rear now?
Another DEMOCRAT probably telling another BIG DEMOCRAT lie.
