CNN’s Jake Tapper: We Had ‘Difficult Time’ Booking Dems to Defend Obamacare Numbers
Mediaite ^ | November 13th, 2013 | Josh Feldman

Today’s Obamacare numbers have been disappointing, to say the least, with only about 106,000 people signing up through the state and federal health care exchanged. On CNN’s The Lead Wednesday, Jake Tapper admitted it was really hard to find Democrats willing to come on and defend the health care law’s dismal sign-up numbers.

CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger said the numbers are “embarrassing for the administration,” considering the benchmark the CBO set for how many would need to enroll by March for the program to be successful. Newt Gingrich dismissed the idea this is in any way comparable to the bumpy rollout of health care in Massachusetts, saying Obamacare’s a “massively bigger problem.”

CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash took note of the “sound of silence” coming from Democrats, and Tapper agreed it’s pretty striking.

“To be completely honest with you, we had a difficult time booking Democrats to come on after those numbers were released, to have them come on and talk about fixing the problem.”

Bet they wish they read it. Well, not that it would have changed anything, they'd of still voted for it.

So, you have a “plan” that allows some people to pay less because the difference is being made up by other people paying more,

and you wonder (only if you’re a democrat) why you’re getting only the former signing on to the plan, and very few if any of the latter.

I guess you’d have to be a democrat to “Notsee” this ahead of time.

The 2012 Obama campaign had the most sophisticated, data-driven, real-time GOTV system ever seen.

The ACA website fail is all the more amazing for this reason.

Where exactly are the tens of thousands of investigative journalists? The CBS crews? The NBC news teams? The Washington Post award-winning journalists? The brilliant guys at the Chicago newspapers?

There were signs six to eight months ago of impending issues. Were they off on vacation, lounging on pancake calorie stories, or covering gas station fires in Miami?

Jake Tapper? Now, he’s woke up and wants answers? What’s with this? Did Jake run out of corrupt Wall Street stories? No recent reportings of Bigfoot or Loch Nessie?

I just see a bunch of losers. Congressmen who just wouldn’t read or comprehend anything. Investigative journalists who can’t report anything of a fair or balanced nature. FBI and federal authorities who pick and choose from the laws which to enforce and which to toss into the garbage.

DUH...

They all KNEW what the result would be.
Now, the MSNBC-fed line my liberal aquaintances are regurgitating is, “You are muissing the BIGGER PICTURE by concentrating on the website, and insurance lost!!”

They have no idea what that “Bigger Picture!” is, but that is the meme...

I think Jake Tapper is, for the most part, a pretty straight shooter.

For years he was the only one at ABC who would challenge this administration.

It’s not amazing at all. Where do you think the money and talent for his re-election campaign database came from?

I guarantee you there was overlap there. The $600M probably paid for his re-election database too.

we had a difficult time booking Democrats

Love the way they write about "booking" democrats as if they are models or media entertainers.

Which, I suppose, they are.

We should invent a new FR word: Politotainment!

“Oh please, ENLIGHTEN THIS BENIGHTED SOUL what this ‘bigger picture’ is!”

Is it using the government to force some people to pay for other people’s healthcare?

Why don’t you just go take the money yourself if that’s a good thing to do?

Polito-tainment!

You’re on to something here.

All too often we watch this charade as if it was disconnected from the real world. Their side against ours. Who scored points on who?

The health Insurance fiasco will bring it down from the abstract world of entertainment to the real world of every day people who are about to find out what Big Government can really do to you.

It won’t be so entertaining then.

We Had ‘Difficult Time’ Booking Dems to Defend Obamacare Numbers

He could've always trotted out San Fran Nan or Debbie Wasserman Schultz - nothing that comes out of their mouths makes any sense anyway, and they're not shy about spouting the party line, no matter how stupid or ridiculous it may be.

My guess is that the rest of the dems that are running scared will say:
"We were for it, before we were against it."
It didn't work for J F'ing Kerry, but it might work for them if they throw in some food stamps and free 0bamaphones.
